Pandemic or not I could not for the life of me get into it! It made me really appreciate how gnarly our sport is! What’s your thoughts?

Concur with gt80rider. If NASCAR was the last sport on Earth, I wouldn't watch it.

I went for 160 mile road ride with some friends to the top of Palomar MTN.... Sure beat sitting in front of a screen.

The only time I’ve ever enjoyed watching a stock car race was when Kenny ROGERS had those 6 car thief kids in his pit crew.

It's a tough watch these days, that's for sure.

Now Nascar in the 80s and prior is a different story. Those guys were gnarly! The racing was fun to watch because it was dangerous as hell and the cars were hand built works of art. Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think the element of danger is a huge draw to all forms of Motorsport racing. Cars these days have gotten too safe. Also, computers have reduced the competitive edge down to who has the most $$ to invest into the latest wizbang computer program.

It has such a low entertainment value now I don’t know who could get excited about it.

Posted this in Bobby M's thread: Tried watching the NASCAR race yesterday, but without fans, with everyone in masks, no personal interaction or facial expressions, there was just no atmosphere brought out that makes a race a race. I really hope I don’t have the same feeling Sunday night after the first Supercross, because I’m not real interested in watching anymore NASCAR like that debacle. Maybe I’ve just “moved on” from watching sterilized broadcasts and have better things to go do with my time, we’ll see.

You made the right call. I was interested until about the 4th commercial. Then, lost interest and switched over to Top Gun on AMC channel...which was also in commercial. Laughing

I can always find something better to do than watch NASCAR. Watch a TV test pattern, stare at the sun, watch fly's fuck...anything.

^^^^ SPOT ON ^^^^^

This is my fear for SX or MX if it "grows" too much.

I don't mind being the uncool guy. I was just thrilled to watch some sort of live TV that isn't freaking news.. Think about it, for about the past 2 months, the only live TV is news, crappy news. I know NASCAR isn't everyone's forte', but it was live sports, I enjoyed it. I agree NASCAR is not as exciting as it used to be, but at least it was some sort of live sport to watch.

I watched it (fearing the worst). I really liked it. I thought NASCAR did a really good job. Even just seeing the cars go around Darlington was worth tuning-in.

Agreed. Safety is great, but over years, when all the cars look the same, they become “greener”, and the risk isn’t there like it used to be, it just isn’t as interesting.

I halfway watch NASCAR, and generally enjoyed the race yesterday.. but I really like the "turn it up" segment, where the commentators stop talking and you can only hear the car engines.

We need that for SX/MX!!!

Just take a bag of skittles.....pour them into the toilet.....and flush!

Boom! Your very own NASCAR race!

I'll start watching when they start using real street courses like the stuff F1 runs on

It is basically the same for me everytime I try something non moto. I have a lot of respect for Formlua 1 in general, but I can't watch it for some reason.

watching Jimmy Johnson just straight up run into the back of a lap car was a great highlight. Last 1/2 lap of the stage. A nice lead and didn't just lift a little to run a lower line to stay well enough away from a lapper. What a brain fart for sure.
