God almighty. The finger was bad enough, but that cadaver hand that coastline posted made me hungry for ribs.

Seriously though, to the OP, a buddy of mine was loading a quad into the bed of a truck and it was 90% there. It rolled backward and the sprocket came right down onto his finger. His finger didn't look that bad. I can't imagine how you did that, but damn it sure would be nice to learn that lesson vicariously through you! Hope you heal up man.

I did a similar thing sitting on a stool, the top was loose and I bunny hopped it to move closer to the table and came down with it between the raw tube and the wooden seat. It was not quite down to the bone and cut clean off. It was flat for a while but now I can't even figure out which one it was.

Thanks for sharing. I'll be very careful now around my rotor, where typically I just do shit careflessly and don't think about injury lol.

Any updates on how your finger looks now?

I sliced this tip of mine off the weekend before Thanksgiving. Had a tipover and the end of the handlebar somehow sliced the tip of my left middle finger off at about a 45 degree angle. See pics. I basically had to force the ER doc to sew it back on. It was a pretty clean slice that somehow didn't do the slightest bit of damage to my glove. I think I have another month to go before it's fully healed so I was wondering how yours ended up looking. Here is my progress so far.

Start:

Stitched up at ER:

About a month into this:

90 days:

Been there, done that!. Yours looks better. You just might save that nail bed. I did mine in Rosarito Mexico at the 125 mile GP in 1986. They tried to save the nail but eventually I had to ditch it and reconstruct the finger tip. The only problem is poor circulation on extremely cold days. No biggy. It hurts like hell because the nerve endings are quite sensitive in the finger tips...but after all is said and done you should be fine!

Holy shit that's nasty. I'm thankful I still have all my fingers. Been a mechanic at a shop for 4 years, I've had my fair share of nasty cuts and smashed nails that fell off, but nothing to that extent luckily!

Yep. Sliced the tip with fingernail intact of my rt. pinky at a 45 deg. angle in 1986 exposing the bone. Almost 32 yrs. later I feel pain especially on cold days with a numb feeling due to nerve damage. Thankful the ER doctor was able to sow it back on & save it though.

Just saw this post pop back up. Great reminder lol. Mine has healed pretty damn well all things considered. It does have a weird sensation to it compared to other fingers, but it works, and my nail grew. Its just a little fatter than normal and squishier.

could you explain how that happened I still don't understand.

I noticed during the Bit Bits segment with Broc Glover/Dunlop that when he showed the tire treads that all the rotors had covers on them.
