I also hate the new KTM and Husky 250 2 strokes. For me it’s the power spread. All bottom to mid. On a 250 2 stroke, that’s useless. I want power up top. I also hated the suspension.

Awesome bike, looks great!

Same here, felt like I was not planned at all, sketchy and was way of my usual lap times even when pushing

The fact that people downvote someones new bike is sooo shitty to me. Congrats on the freshie. And remember, he still purchased that new husky.. which supports 2 strokes

And I agree on the not planted feeling. Man they are sketchy to ride.

You're not the first person I've seen/heard not like the Austrian 250 smokers. I think it's an issue with their "out of the box" settings. They are capable of greatness... with better jetting (or a keihen carb swap), power valve adjustment, and of course dialed suspension. It isnt much, but a lot more than what you have to do on a YZ.

Either way, congrats on the fooper!

Thanks😊 the reason I didn’t get a KTM/Husky this time, is the suspension. Bought a set of cone valves and they were great but needed a lot of tlc, exited to try this one out after 10+ years on KTM’s

Yea, I’ve also owned a KTM 250SX, currently own a 19 YZ250, and a 19 TM 144MX, also had a 14 144MX, 15 YZ250, 12 YZ125 (maxrpms 144), 13 250SX stock, 13 250SX mod, shall I go on?

The new gen KTM 250 and Husky 250 IMO has a useless power spread. I’ve preferred every single prior bike I’ve owned to it. Everyone at KTM demo day agreed. That bike had nobody wanting more laps on it.

Set up, it might be a different story. But box stock, it was very far off.

I prefer a 250 2 stroke that has more top end power than low end. Helps keep the bike in a rut without the clutch. The ktm/husky’s get so much wheel spin, can’t stay planted. A 125, a bit more torque can help make it easier to ride. But not a 250 2

Do you feel the 450 is easier to get around on.. Coming off a 250 smoker id figured you would have went 250f.

You're entitled to your opinion and riding style like everyone else but to say that bike is useless is just inaccurate. It sounds like you're describing riding a rut wide open which people don't really do.

I just don't get how people can say the stock bike is "useless" when all they need to do is change jets and needles, tuning stuff, to get it better. On the other hand, buying a tuner for a 4-stroke that cost $800 is just part of the game because all you have to do is plug it in and not think about it.

I love 4 strokes. Nothing wrong with getting what you like, be a two stroke, four stroke, Suzuki, or anything else. You are the one that has to ride it. Enjoy!

I'll assume you're talkin about me. I don't care if people prefer 4-strokes (OP posted 2 new awesome bikes) but I just don't like misinformation.

I haven’t ridden it yet, snow here now. But I came off a 2020 KTM 250f before the husky, really liked that bike but felt a little underpowered sometimes I’m like 190 pounds

Nice looking bike. One of the reasons I went with the 250XC tpi is because people think it’s “slow” but it’s very linear and easy to ride. None of that violent hit and wheel spin. Thing is electric. Those yamahas seem like great bikes, curious to hear your input.

Unsure how you could not like the TC. But different strokes for different folks.... in our Mx world this day could be more true Smile

I sold my TC250 and got an FC450 and I’m going back to the 2 stroke I don’t gel with 4T. The fc is an amazing bike i just don’t like any engine braking at all.... but that’s just me

Enjoy your new bike and rip it up Smile

If you were kidding, you got me but up and down votes are a joke and are no way to judge something. I have down voted a great topic just because the topic started or ended with the poster saying, "I'm sure I will get down votes." I laugh when I do it.

The phone tuner is great for a little of this or a little of that but is quite limited as far as tuning goes.

On My 18 250Sx the stock setup was off, creating a hard low end hit & quick top end sign off. Some minor jetting changes, gearing for your location and a pipe/ silencer combo made a huge difference in the power spread, it pulls a lot farther on top now. I like both 2 & 4 strokes bikes, grew up on 2t”s and I enjoy the process of dialing them in. I still use my 18 250SX as a backup bike and woods/ GNCC bike. I like 2t better in the woods.

My bro had a 2011 250SX and it was all bottom like you described. PC system woke that thing up on top.
