Got very, very, very lucky. Guy was in a hurry to buy an electric mountain bike and did not want to wait. 2004 Yz250, original chain and sprockets, tank decals are still white $2000. Loved my first 04, i can kick myself everyday for not just holding on to my 2nd 04. Third times a charm!!! I have had a 09 and must say the steel frames do ride smoother. Will be updating to SSS forks and shock. Photo

$2000.00......you freakin' can't beat that! Great find man. And for 2K , that bike will give you everything a new model would , which is a ton of fun!

And there goes Jeffro. One of God's own prototypes. A super high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Nice find OP! Make sure you do a build thread for this thing.

Oh and please don't do a black frame/swingarm on that thing! These YZ's look great the way they are

Loving my 04, I got it for $1,000 and so far put about another $1,000 in it. I am playing with the forks now to see how good I can get them before I go to SSS. I ride mainly woods these days, so the OC forks may work once setup.

Dudebro that is one sweeeeet bike!

Regarding your forks, theyre not as bad as the 46mm OC KYB's and these are 48mm. The Kawasaki KX125 & 250 came with the same forks from 03-04 before going to the twin chamber design. I had an 03 YZ250 and one thing i always hated about the forks (46mm kyb's) on that bike was that even with a revalve from RG3, they seemed to give the bike a vague feel as compared to the larger diameter 48mm of the same design. That was probably due to some unwanted flexing as (hopefully this makes sense) but they didnt feel adequate for the bike in terms of rigidity and hard hits. The bike felt like it was actually being held bac some what...im sure there will be a handful of people that disagree but on my 03 YZ250 i always felt like the bike wouldve been absolutely perrrrrrfect with larger diameter forks on it. My 03 YZ250's main issue at least to me was it took a considerable amount more effort and energy trying to change directions at a decent speed and that went away with larger forks.

In other words what im trying to say is, maybe give the stock forks a shot ....property set up, these larger 48mm forks can be dam good!

Enzo said they have a killer setting for them too

And by the way the same rings true for my KX250I thought I was going to have to swap those forks too but it seems like they're pretty dam adequate And have thoroughly impressed me on many occasion's going into a really hard landing or hitting something at high speed on the track even steep jump faces
