The Shop
I'm off to Fernely Nevada for the Old Timer event this weekend. I'm a 60 Master and looking forward to checking these out. To make it even better I'm stopping by Slipdog's place to pickup the stock FE AER forks and shocks. Slip worked his magic on them, so I'll change forks a few times this weekend.
Suspension is everything!!!
Is this conversion can work?
I did a 4cs to kyb swap somewhat recently, but went another route. I owned a 2014 Husky CR125 (pre KTM model) that came with KYB forks w/ Brembo hangers, so I took the whole front end (forks, wheel/hub & axle) and put it on the 300. The top clamps fit perfect, but bottom clamps needed about .1mm shim, which I cut from a soda can. I've put about 70hrs on them this last year and they're great. Best thing I've done to the bike, for sure.
I then had the 4cs outer tubes machined down to fit the husky clamps and sold the Husky w/ the 4cs. I'm kinda bummed because I wanted to keep that bike and convert the 4cs to open chambered and see if I could make them work for trail use, but the wife did not forget my promise to sell a bike when I got the 300, so off they went.
Here's the forks installed on day 1 and after the makeover
