Wd40.. It's all I use. I might as well have a restraining order against chain wax.

Whats the difference between chain wax and chain guard by maxima? what is better?
Unless you’re riding on concrete, chainwax is about the worst stuff to put on your chain.

Always use it after the bike wash....for 40+ years now. May just be a bad habit I learned as a kid but I’m sticking to it

Works as good as aerostart, without the stink of DIETHYL ETHER, which gives the game away to customers.

Once had to put an old twin cylinder GSX250 engine from the wreckers into some guy's bike with no money and it had been sitting quite a while and bit hard to turn over. Hooked up the big jump battery, carbies stripped and cleaned out and back on with the airbox off, other mechanic holding the throttle and starter button WFO with me a can of WD into each carb flat out as it turned over. Slowly it got faster and faster and slowly a sputter and then a few more until it was running flat out with rust and shit flying out each of the twin pipes on a straight diet of WD. Got the fuel into it and ended up running like a dream, starting at the first tap on the button. True story.

Ive been using this stuff for a year or so. Local mtn bike shops recommended it. It is almost like wd but leaves an oil like film after it “dries”. Displaces water but doesn’t seem to attract dirt like other stickier chain lubes but still protects the chain. About $11 for a can tho.

Chain lube? Wassat?

DID X-ring and fugitaboutit.

I used to use lube but found it attracted more dirt and created its own gunk. WD40 only for me. After washing, immediately after unloading. Before riding again. Silky smooth and no change in chain life that I can see.

I remember a chain lube shootout some years back and WD40 ran hotter and created more wear than any lube they tested. I use it or Maxima multi purpose lube after washing and then put a proper chain lube on.

Wash chain with simple green and brush and then spray it with WD40

In sand i use wd40 (or similar ) only, chain lube makes the sand stick and its like grinding your chain and sprockets. Cant beat chain lube or a tacky lanolin in the dirt....that's my theory anyway.

Wd40 after every wash.

Maxima's MPPL is basically the same thing as WD40.. Meant to be used after washing/cleaning, to lubricate and disperse water. Just because it "lubricates", doesn't mean it protects against wear the same way actual chain lubes/waxes do..

I use Tri Flo damn near everything. Love that stuff. Also Starbrite teflon zipper lube on levers, throttles etc where light clean grease is needed....

It appears as if this wasn't just my secret. Great stuff for many things. It's all that Sidewinder sprockets would recommend on the chains (Regina) and sprockets.

After washing my bikes I fog the whole damn thing with WD40. This newfangled stuff with these "disc" brakes requires wrapping a clean rag around the brakes to keep it off the pads and rotors. One more plus for old school drum brakes!

I can't determine if some of these people actually believe WD-40 is a lubricant or if it is sarcasm. Seems like I remember a similar thread in ThumperTalk (many years ago) where they were making fun of people that used WD-40 as a lubricant.....

Right after a wash I use it to get the water out of the chain and prevent rust.
I spray it on plastics, especially before a mud race to help keep the mud from sticking. Seems to work.

Same here and have never had a chain or sprocket failure in over 25 years! Chain still looks new.

Every time I feel stupid, which happens quite a bit, I get on the Internet and there is always somebody stupider than me to make me feel better.

Wash the bikes always spray chains down with wd40 afterwards to disperse the water so chains don't rust. After I wash the boots and gear I completely spray the outside of the boots to do the same. Pants with the leather on the knees do the same lightly spray the leather patches let hang to air dry. Boots stay looking new and shinny leather stays soft .

You shouldn't lube your chain with WD-40. WD-40 is basically a cleaner, not a lubricant. On a chain it will heat up too quickly and fly off. It can also get into the rollers and flush out the grease in there. Spray it on before you wash your bike to loosen up the old chain lube and grime and then pressure wash it off. When you're done washing, dry the chain and apply regular chain lube. I have a portable little leaf blower that I dry my bike off with. It works great to dry the chain. Otherwise, spin the wheel a few times with a rag around the chain. Leaving WD-40 to soak into your chain is not a good idea.
