Heavy traffic causes it. I have a few e-commerce sites that get hammered with traffic at different times...super stressful. But also not feasible to increase resources 100% if the time to cover the misc 1% if time that it’s not sufficient. I’m assuming the site is hosted with amazon web service so it may automatically allocate more resources.
Either way, gives me ptsd thinking about having a site throw 503 errors. All-in-all Vital does great considering the amount of traffic and the fact that they can’t really leverage browser cache the same way a typical site can since it has constantly updating posts. I’m impressed with it.

It was driving my crazy trying to post in the Bench Racing thread last night, seriously took 3-4 minutes for a reply and half the time it would give you a "post not created on the forum" error. Frustrating.

Haven't noticed any slowness on mine, and I'm on satellite. Maybe 4 seconds max to load any pages, but usually quicker than that.

Yeah I'm not sure what's going on. It seemed ok at the first couple round's ( little laggy but not to bad ). But these past two weekends have been terrible. During the race , I'll type something up , go to post it and it just hangs threw for about 1 min. Thread pops up and what I typed never got added to the conversation. Or I get the 500 error. Like Ted mentioned above , I think it's the ad's in the middle of the page that are bogging it down?

My point was that is people don't want to see advertisements then they should be willing to pay for an ad-free site. If they aren't willing to pay for an ad-free site, then they should STFU and enjoy the FREE FREE FREE community

You're probably right. I quit Mototalk cause they charged me money to get shredded on every post. But, this place has to make money somehow. I noticed the new ad placement and slowdown but trust that Gibby and the boys will find a balance/fix somewhere. Go look for a better place for moto stuff....you won't find it.

Not denying the content Vital puts outs, actually I am not even really complaining about the ads. Small price to pay for so much content. I am just stating that charging for a forum is usually the beginning of the end. The Vital staff are not stupid, they will make the appropriate changes to appease the masses....There is a reason why the site is so popular.
