Take a ride to Wisconson, take your resume, introduce yourself to Belfore, he's looking for ex Buell employees, sell him on making the Griffin.

Make History again.

I honestly think that ship has sailed.
Too much time lost.
Even if there was a chance in hell, to much would have to change.

At least send him a resume, maybe give him a call.
Everything has changed.
He's building from the ground up, isn't interested in cruisers, says there are too many making them already.
And we all rode dirt bikes at one time in our lives, which nobody here in the States makes.

Think about it.
"The Ozzy Project,". Lol, hey, stranger things have happened.

Call the guy.

Look, sounds very, "Rocky-ish" & I love those movies.
Here's the deal.
I can't write my true thoughts here as I don't want to offend any from Buell that might be on Vital.
What needs to be said will someday.
If this New Investor is interested I'm easy to find, real easy. There's another guy on Vital, "Freeh" who was an Engineer there with me. He's heard me talk privately many times. He was on the suspension side.
He gets it too.
The only way I'd get on that bus is if I drove!

Nothin better than starting my day with a lil VH!!
I can't speak for Erik so I won't.
He always impressed me.
Whatever went on after the Project I was on went on...
A lot of very good & bright people on the Project.
I said earlier, to get back on that bus I'd have to drive.

Yo Dave.. At the Southwick 500 nats in 79 I believe Bells maybe won the first moto but seized his scooter up during the 2nd moto due to the filter getting clogged up. If I remember right you didn't have enough time between motos to change it and that was the downfall. Is that true and did it go down like that?

Back then Yamaha was more of several teams within a team.
The works bikes took a lot of time just to do normal in between moto servicing.
Bell was in a crash in Moto 1.
My priority was to fix everything 1st, then gas, tires, etc.
I had No Help.
There were no floater guys.
The 250's left for the line.
By the time I got to the filter, I had no more time, none.
The filter as I recall wasn't bad.
I had to wrap it up so I did.
It ran the whole Moto.
Sucked some sand!
Hind sights 20/20....
Cool story correction, billy and i were parked close to you and saw you hustling. Fuggen track wás pretty rough and it was brutal with 2 45 min motos.

Yep!!
You recall it too.
Southwick back then was much tougher than she is now.
Not that she isn't now & I'm glad she's coming back on the schedule, Thx DC, but she was longer & even deeper sand.
More like Europe.
Everyone except JoJo Keller dreaded that race!!
Hope all is well with you??

Yeah, he talks about in an interview.
Got in over their head, engineers gone wild, and when Hero, the Motorcycle manufacturer that owned
Almost half of Buell didn't pay their bill, EBR went 15 million in the hole, forcing them into bankruptcy.

And Ozzy, just trying to help.

Ok Ozzy...now for the tuff question. In yer opinion was the old school racers/tracks/45 min motos etc, much faster, tougher and just plain ole badasser than what is happening today?

You cant burn any bridges answering this question although you just may hurt some feelings,

No worries, much appreciated.
The sport bike side had many issues.
This I realized early on.
It wasn't easy doing what they were doing, but at the same time they did it to themselves.
My Project was no different!

It's ALL relative really.
In the past for example, take me.
Mechanic.
I drove, cleaned, shopped, fabricated, changed tires, built engines chassis suspension did everything.
Today, there's still the Mechanic, but now there's Staff.
Motor guy
Suspension guy
Transporation driver
Everyone flies...
Trainers, etc., but the job is still Gnarly!!
Babe Ruth couldn't even see the ball if he was alive & in his youth at today's Baseball game.
Back then, sure the Motos were longer.
But today, 30+2 is good with the modern bikes of today.
If they go under that like they always talk, it'll ruin what Moto is about.
I've heard about shortening to 25+2 & more. For TV.
It's a catch 22 that I amazed the people behind it don't see.
SX on TV is awesome.
MX on TV here is a joke to me.
TV here in MX is ruining the sport if you ask me.
Let's get back on track....
Look at, Hannah, Glover, Barnett, Bailey & Co., 100% Gnarly racers.
Look at, RC, Reed, Stewart, Tomac, Dungey & Co., plus ALL our top 250 guys and the sport both in SX & MX still gets my attention and is full of 100% Gnarly racers!!

Both!!
Even the in between, Gary period, though brief, had some good tunes.
I'm into their sound, their music.
Been hooked since their Mammoth days.
The front men are important, but even if you swapped motors on the TITANIC, she'd still be the TITANIC!!

How would you have ever made it, without the contributions of Ryan Smith & Jason Powers? They seemed to be the backbone of 22 motorsports.

Haha!! Good 1.
Personally, I always appreciated their help.
The races they were able to attend were always helpful setting up the circus!!
Good guys too.
Funny, when we started the team, there were a few guys around.
Ryan, Jason, Paul & Kevin.
They had team jackets, shirts, hats...
I had No Idea who the hell they were.
At 1st, I thought they were part owners/investors, I was puzzled, so I asked, just not right away.
Plenty for me to do in the beginning so it took a bit for me to get it straight.

It depends.
Chad's team, TwoTwo Motorsports, was that way.
It just depends on the situation at hand.
So far, Silly Season for me is dry as a bone!!
We love Dean Wilson.
He's a pal of the team for sure.
He & his family are great people.
Chad wanted Dean earlier while we were at Honda, but Honda said NO!
Later on Kawi, Chad tried Dean out for a few SX races while he was recovering.
Each time in that direction, he'd ask our opinions, but ultimately it was Chad's call.

You mean XR75's.
I think we all over rode & pushed the envelope on those things.
I loved those days.
Funny, all the modern 110 Mini Movement bored me.
I also loved the early Yamaha 80's.
I ride those all day!! Fun stuff.

Yes 75's. I recall so much time being spent on those with all the mods and the rent a car racing.
