No if he was coming out of retirement he wouldn't have raced and instead showed up the next day just to practice to compare lap times.

And the exact words the other pros said at sign up: "Are you fucking kidding me?"

I was there too -- nah, I don't think there was any animosity haha! He has family ties to this track and people have told me they actually helped get it established. This was the first race for the facility (Motowest, it was in the Premix video as well). Ryan cruised to the first moto win, I didn't see RV's moto 2 because I knocked the crap out of myself and packed it up, but barring catastrophe he should have had it handled. Crazy watching him wheel-tap through the whoops on the first lap.

The other cool part here was that Tyler V. was out as well on his CR 250 two smoker and finished second in the 450 A moto that I watched. It was a pretty damned cool day at the races even with my own problems!

And here's my casualty report after throwing away the lead in +40 B....

Unfortunatrly all the real fast pros were racing in idaho. Could have been alot better had the ax race not been on the same weeken. Still cool though. The whole family is out there quite a bit now. Good to see them all having fun

Well clearly he's just not that good at coming back yet. The correct way would have been to post an edited video from his own practice track so people could predict he will go 17-0 and 24-0 next year.

I'm glad he's still out there enjoying the grass roots of the sport. I'm sure he's loving life now.

Wait, I thought the justification for letting ex-factory pros like Emig and RC race the AMATEUR championship at Loretta Lynns was that "they had no other place to race".

Maybe they need to hit up the Northwest MX series. Unsure

Hell, if I looked down the line at the gate, and saw Villopoto...I'd push my bike back to the truck, load up & go home. Ha!

Any chance Villopoto is part of the legends race (I mean exhibition) this year. Is there a legend mx this year?

Someone needs to give Carmichael a run for his money.

Man, that arm is hard to look at! Ouch!

So good to see him enjoying the sport again !
Full circle !
Awesome !

Quite arguably the best racer ever. Dungey is close but cautious. Villy was the the last balls out racer with success, of course JS7 is the best to ever throw a leg over a bike! Skills-wise! Taught the world how to ride! But the last balls out champ was Villy and before that Carmichael! These guys 'are' the record books! I always wonder how MC would've stacked up if he had got a chance to race mx & sx , the actual sport? Being the last champ of the hippie generation on 2 strokes , nothing he did really counts , that's why RC is the goat! Thats why Even what MC "did" in sx doesn't really count , as any current AMA racer is better than MC ever was! Thanks to JS7! But when a champ retires he should be allowed to race locally again and have fun without backlash! He shouldn't come back to the AMA! Just leave them alone and let them retire and ride into the sunset! Unlike MC who was still getting parked in 2005 sx by JS7! Which at the time I thought was harsh , like ? Just pass the guy cleanly James ? he's a living legend! But now I see JS7's motive ! MC is a pylon and had no business being out there for 5 years already , and the next generation thinks poorly of MC because of it! A joke! Actually we named his predecessor the goat! As in! What ever happened before the goat shouldn't be counted in the real record books! Now you see it come full circle with James now at the end , desperately trying to hang on , after teaching the world how to bubba scrub! Only difference between james and mc ? James Belongs in the record books, regardless of how his exit looks currently! RC & RV did it perfectly! They exited before time took its toll! But still race non-AMA events & win! Wonder if we'll see Villy do Lorettas + 25? That would be great ' awesome to see him enjoying retirement and hopefully setting an example for future racers! Know when your times over and ride healthily into the sunset! Bravo!

So you don't like McGrath? You could have just said that and saved a bunch of time typing!
6/26/2016 12:56pm
I feel bad for these retired pros. They love racing but really have nobody to race after retirement. Then they race a local race and get chastised for it.
6/26/2016 1:02pm
I assure you even the local pros were probably stoked to see somebody like him come out. I don't get this sentiment. When a pro comes out to race, EVERYBODY gets excited.

I think it's awesome that he still has passion for the sport and wants to enjoy it on his terms. I'd be stoked if he lined up next to me at my local track and whooped my ass.
