Raced the Transworld TransAM VET Classic at Glen Helen this past weekend. Very fun track, not too difficult, on par with the World VET Championship layout. Anyway, I had McGrath go by me in practice like I had a Steinway & Sons hooked up to my rear fender and RV looked so damn fast I couldn't help but wonder...

RV raced and won the 30+ Pro
MC raced and won the 40+ Pro

They did not race each other but check out there lap times, i'm very impressed with McGrath's times!

Outside looking in, it does look like McGrath is close. However, if they weren't on the track at the same time, it could be misleading. But, I have no doubt MGrath still has speed. Two of the greats, for sure.

much ty. How to spot a paid forum poster/artificial forum traffic producer (see list of actions/phrases below):

Copius pattern amounts of phrases like “Anyone have”..., “Anybody know?”.... and their variations.

Thoughts?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Those times look to be what I would expect. RV would have a pretty good lead by the end of the Moto which is what should be expected considering the age difference.

One thing I have learned over the years is that old pros may slow down a bit but they still haul ass. It’s amazing how well a 60 year old pro can still get around the track (not RV and MC of course) I’m talking about guys like Marty Smith etc

So true. Whenever I see an old pro ride I just think "wow, the speed never really leaves them". I think a lot of it is just the technique. Always perfect or near perfect, scootin' around the track with ease.

and yet the brand logos looked mixed up.
no one asociates either brand with those riders, even tho they rode them but at a much earlier and far less profile time.

Does anyone even really care though? Going where people will pay you is nothing new.

This link shows the results for all classes:

https://live.tracksideresults.com/twmx/class.asp?s=21&c=all&e=30

43 classes in a Vet only race event? blink

A bunch with only 1, 2 or 3 guys.

And by the way, it says McGrath was 4th in 40+ pro with a 1-DNF-DNF. Kurt Nicoll 1st with a 3-1-1.

I'm pretty sure that it's for people over a certain weight.

MC only rode Saturday, it was a 2 day event.

Nicoll is pretty much the boss as far as 40+ stuff around here.

HAHA Oh I was a lil off then. We don't have weight classes in ILLINOIS so I wasn't sure.

Sleeter went down hard and knocked himself out in one moto in front of MC and he stopped and stayed with sleeter until the medics got to him. That's the reason for one DNF. Sleeter posted about it yesterday.

I raced the Clydesdale class and got 3rd first Moto, it’s for racers 220lb and over. No age or skill restrictions. They had cool trophies, damn I wanted one but couldn’t stay until 5-6PM on Sunday for the 3rd Moto.

Lap times can also be misleading when McGrath was running those lap times with a 2 second lead, while RV was running those lap times while gaining 4 seconds per lap on 2nd and opening up a 20+ second lead. Something tells me that if RV was being challenged, those lap times would probably range somewhere around 10+ seconds a lap faster than MC. That's just my opinion.

3/27/2018 12:36 PM

if he wanted to, RV could come out and smoke Eli and everyone else this summer. stamp it.

|

3/27/2018 1:20 PM

Damn RV is 30?
