Looking at Jmart videos on first page, even though resolution is set to 1080p it looks like shit, 240p or so. When they play it on the NBC app as part of live coverage it looks good, 1080p-ish quality,

Tried both built in on webpage and directly on Youtube with same results.

Anyone else experience this?

It depends on the feed you are getting it from. The ones I have seen posted on FB appear to be HD, one of the ones I tried to watch on youtube was low quality as you stated!

Sure, but Garmins own postings from Jmart should be Full HD, bad promotion for the camera when it looks like shit.

On my Samsung tablet i could select higher resolution, 2k something and then it looked better.

My laptop is fast one with plenty of ram and I5 CPU so should be sufficient for higher resolution also, but not available on same video on Youtube when visiting via PC.

I agree, not the best marketing...

Here is the FB link! On FB it is HD but when you embed it here it goes way down in quality!

Found the problem. Firefox on Windows/PC only gives the HD option, tried Google Chrome and got the 2k option!

Keep in mind when you do 360 degree video that the image gets wrapped around and a 1080p video essentially turns into a 720p or less video. VR needs 2k-8k to be clear like HD flat footage. I've done some VR scenes in 3D programs and has to render 16K scenes. 360 video and VR needs fast processors and video cards that can handle that much pixel data.
