Vet tracks in the DFW Area

Edited Date/Time 9/10/2022 6:56pm
Trina find some more vet tracks in the DFW area. I love Oak Hill but they are rarely open and I messaged them to see if the vet track will be open during practice days and they never got back to me. Texplex has one but it could do with a little work . Is there any other places that have a good vet track? Cheers!

Try the Village Creek "Vet Track" layout when they run it. It's pretty tame. River Valley doesn't have a vet track but their track has been tamed down as well. I run 50+ C so I'm no pro but I find these to be pretty vet friendly.

Run a race day at Burleson MX. Fun track and only has one jump, a ski jump table. Honestly don't know if they still race or are open.

Oak Hill turned there Vet Track into a side by side track.

East of Dallas is Buffalo Creek. It does not have a separate vet track but the track is very vet friendly.

Very good question on “vet track” in the DFW area. I love Swan, but the older I get, the bigger those jumps get! Not a fan of the latest track configuration there, but it’s probably the best vet layout I can think of. Darn near every track we race on anymore has big jumps that are demanding of respect. I just accept there a one or two jumps I just can’t clear at each track and have fun anyway! I’ve heard Murphys has a killer layout for vets but haven’t made that drive south yet.

Hudd, where is this place? Is it open for practice or just private lessons (not that I don’t need a LOT of those)?

The Office MX is a semi private spot right by the FW airport. It’s vet friendly.

TAPT house has a vet track.

Open like 5 days a week. Near Bridgeport. If you're in Athens, sounds like he's about to start opening more. Just redid the entire track.

If by vet track you mean you want a corner track then yeah, Masterpools is good. Been out there 5 times and 2 of those times we left because they laid out an "awesome corner track" to ride.

The last year has been amazing. Long lap times, new track every day, great prep.

I ride with a large group of vet riders every weekend who all love it. Check it out again, that's all we ride on the weekends now.

I hated Burleson so no loss there, but it was close to the Hospital lol.
Luckys Landing in Milsap is not bad with a light rain, and at least he attempts prep on wekends, but will open anyday if you call ahead.
Edge (or whatever it is now) was a good track but got more private as I understand.
Johnsonville MX is pretty fun big layout

Man, was talking to a buddy last week and I think Luckys is gone. South Central (known as the Edge) has been shut down about a year now. I loved it out there.

Chopper, I sent you a message on Instagram.

Just about every vet friendly track has been mentioned already, but I’ll throw Swan out there too as a possibility. The day track can be high speed, but as far as jumps, it’s about as tame as it gets.

I think Lucky’s might be in jeopardy. Unfortunately Lucky just passed away a week or 2 ago.

Try His 956 Facility. I'm 63 and its an Incredible practice track. I went on a Wednesday and could do all the jumps but one. I actually thought the track was easy and left with my tongue dragging the ground.

Bummer, but I'm kind of surprised it made it this long. My first MX race was there in the 80's. Did urban sprawl shut them down?

I didn't get the appeal, my buddy said awesome awesome but when I went there were no jumps. Great dirt but one lame table. I just kept cutting the track and doing the one jump over. My son hit one of the million trees that lined the track and left in a helicopter, so theres that..

Where is "his 956 Facility"

Will somebody buy the track in Greenville and open it back up please? That place was fun.

DFW is kinda lacking when it comes to “vet tracks.”

I don’t want to publicly shit on any of the tracks, but I will give huge praise to the Masterpool’s facility for offering fun, safe layouts. My biggest fear about that place is that someday it might become as overcrowded as VC and RV sometimes are, as more people find out about it.

Burleson was great, because it DIDN’T change over time… just a fun, forgiving, safe layout with great dirt, great prep and no huge consequences. It was a unique track that offered something different from all the others. There’s definitely a void left in this area after it closed.

Yeah...there's a uppity golf course that backs up to the land now. That, along with all the huge housing developments out there, have shut another one down.

In the last 20 or so years, we have lost:

Lake Whitney
Burleson
Mosier Valley
Rabbit Run (much longer than 20 years)
the original San Antonio track (almost lost my life there, but actually beat Pedro Gonzales there..if you remember him)
Conroe
Shamrock (in Hillsboro)

There's more, but thats the grim picture....

Mosier Valley was so awesome. Its been 15 years and I still miss it.
Has anybody been to Liberty Bottoms MX?

Next you're going to tell me they shut down Wolf Creek in Cleburne. lol

You can add Nocona to that list. On the bright side we do have some really good newer tracks in NTX.

I'll always have a soft spot for Burleson. I never missed a race there for a period when they were on a rotation with Whitney. Nothing technical but it was fun to surf the loamy berms through the trees. People keep referencing a table top, but I recall the biggest jump being a single ski jump to flat that hurt like hell every lap.

what ever happened to greenville? I heard it was for sale
I don't know about it being for sale now but he shut it down years ago. He got busy with his own company (cement business I believe) and didn't have much time for the track. Was by far the best old school, vet friendly MX track around. I miss it.

Masterpools aka His 956 is in Bridgeport area - Best prep/dirt in Texas. New fun layouts every day. They've been splitting as they get more riders based on skill.

Looks like Athens is getting rebuilt, and TAPT house is opening soon to the public. So we should have a good fall/winter ahead of us for riding.
