Trina find some more vet tracks in the DFW area. I love Oak Hill but they are rarely open and I messaged them to see if the vet track will be open during practice days and they never got back to me. Texplex has one but it could do with a little work . Is there any other places that have a good vet track? Cheers!
Oak Hill turned there Vet Track into a side by side track.
The Shop
TAPT house has a vet track.
I ride with a large group of vet riders every weekend who all love it. Check it out again, that's all we ride on the weekends now.
Luckys Landing in Milsap is not bad with a light rain, and at least he attempts prep on wekends, but will open anyday if you call ahead.
Edge (or whatever it is now) was a good track but got more private as I understand.
Johnsonville MX is pretty fun big layout
Just about every vet friendly track has been mentioned already, but I’ll throw Swan out there too as a possibility. The day track can be high speed, but as far as jumps, it’s about as tame as it gets.
I think Lucky’s might be in jeopardy. Unfortunately Lucky just passed away a week or 2 ago.
Damn. Old school moto fool. With him gone the track is gone for sure.
Underground is super fun but not very "vet"
Pit Row
Where is "his 956 Facility"
Will somebody buy the track in Greenville and open it back up please? That place was fun.
I don’t want to publicly shit on any of the tracks, but I will give huge praise to the Masterpool’s facility for offering fun, safe layouts. My biggest fear about that place is that someday it might become as overcrowded as VC and RV sometimes are, as more people find out about it.
Burleson was great, because it DIDN’T change over time… just a fun, forgiving, safe layout with great dirt, great prep and no huge consequences. It was a unique track that offered something different from all the others. There’s definitely a void left in this area after it closed.
In the last 20 or so years, we have lost:
Lake Whitney
Burleson
Mosier Valley
Rabbit Run (much longer than 20 years)
the original San Antonio track (almost lost my life there, but actually beat Pedro Gonzales there..if you remember him)
Conroe
Shamrock (in Hillsboro)
There's more, but thats the grim picture....
Mosier Valley was so awesome. Its been 15 years and I still miss it.
Has anybody been to Liberty Bottoms MX?
You can add Nocona to that list. On the bright side we do have some really good newer tracks in NTX.
I'll always have a soft spot for Burleson. I never missed a race there for a period when they were on a rotation with Whitney. Nothing technical but it was fun to surf the loamy berms through the trees. People keep referencing a table top, but I recall the biggest jump being a single ski jump to flat that hurt like hell every lap.
Looks like Athens is getting rebuilt, and TAPT house is opening soon to the public. So we should have a good fall/winter ahead of us for riding.
