They might of just wanted to preserve the tank/shrouds for race day. Looks like some kind of Friday/Saturday Dealer sponsored event before the Millville National on Sunday.

Looks very fishy to me. Contact Traders team manager Skip Norfolk and ask him, He is the one in the Red shirt. Why would Skipper not have Honda on his factory Honda shirt? Why would MC a factory rider and his mechanic void the sponsor contract by appearing like this?

Bobs Cycle supply ride day before the Millville Nat.
Can’t have scratched up graphics on race day and don’t want to spend a couple hours with the heat gun later.

Those style Hondas around 93-94 were so clean looking....loved that style.

Would the duct tape not make a huge mess of the graphics too?

I was in Minneapolis for work earlier this year, and stopped into Bobs Cycle for the first time (impressive shop!)... They have A LOT of rider jerseys hanging on the wall, including this one (if I remember right).. Amazing collection

Some adhesive remover will take the residue off left behind.

Its a 125 and wouldn't factory honda be able to spring for new graphics before raceday? That seems odd to me, the jersey is no big deal, a personal sponsor on a non race day, thats fine. But the taping of the graphics and it being a 125 is what seems the oddest to me.

Just seen the OP saying he rode 125 outdoors.....I didn't remember that.

Yeah McGrath rode the 125 for the factory team outdoors for 93, then moved to the 250 for 94 & onwards. Someone put an awesome picture out of McGrath getting roosted at Southwick riding that bike.

Back to the picture, I was gonna say maybe it was to stop something from rubbing against the bike in the box van but that doesn't explain why McGrath is wearing all his gear.

Hey there, any clue on what else they had hanging up? Anything of Emig, Lusk, or Casey Johnson?

Man, I got a new phone since then and lost most of my photos; however I did find these on the Bobs Cycle facebook page, you can see the jerseys up on the top of the wall. This photo honestly does the collection no justice.. the range of riders they have is nuts

It doesn't look like the duct tape is just stuck on there. Look at the curves of the tape where it doesn't go all the way to the front. It's like they put duct tape over a slightly different shroud and somehow put it on over the real shroud. Very strange.

Could it be he had a tip over and didn’t have a spare shroud? It could be broken and the tape is holding it togeather. Tape goes behind and around the front of the tank.

1993 was a long time ago, and no - the factories wouldn't always spring for a fresh set of anything.

Good eye. Looks like a second set of shrouds taped on top of the stock ones

Looks like the air box might be taped up as well.

Was it a mudder? Might have put the tape and extra plastic on there to make the bike wider/more grippy?

Interesting, makes you wonder why they wouldn’t bring a practice bike along for a media type ride

The mechanics brother stated what was going on. Keep in mind this was just before the graphics boom where anyone could make them from their home. Ride the race bike for a little exra practice/tuning on the race track..

Keep in mind they did not pit out of $2MM 18 wheelers with endless parts back then at outdoors.

It was:

1 box van
1 bike
1 Skip Norfolk.

Sheet of clear vinyl. Just haven't pulled the top off of it yet.

Argh so what's the answer. The clear vinyl is plausible I guess

Wasn’t there a back story of this being a new model so they did this to “trick” the masses?

I don't remember there being much differences between a 93 and a 94 bike, what was they covering up, next year's shroud graphics.
