I doubt either copied either. Its common knowledge that 4 strokes are front-end heavy and one engineer probably talked to another engineer about it after seeing the new Husaberg and they both started working on it at the same time. Looks to me like the cylinder on the Vermati is even further slanted towards the rear of the bike.

Not that I know of. Someone in the S.F. Bay area used to bring them in.

I wonder what the weight is on it.

Hard to believe with all the engineering that went into the yamahas that they ballooned up in weight.

That's clearly a Honda front fender and a KTM rear suspension. Let's give credit where it's due. It's not all a copy of Yamaha.

I think it looks pretty cool but I'll keep my Honda.

That is about as far as you can go with mass centralization right there. It will be interesting to see what it looks like when it is more than just a computer rendering.

The whole rearward canted cylinder has been around a LONG time, but no company has run with the idea. Not sure why.

Neat looking bike though.

I posted those renderings (pictures)on VitalMX before MXA posted them on their website. Don't get me wrong. I go to the MXA offices occasionally and see whats up. It's just that as a magazine employee, you don't have the time to surf the web and find all the weird stuff that I find.

Yawn...

I feel this will be another concept leading to nothing. Why not make it simple and reduce costs so you can compete with the Japs? This building better won't happen, and different doesn't make the buyer tic.

I hope I'm wrong.

It is called sampling! Musicians do it all the time, if anything, it is a tribute to the original!!!

Close, but Husaberg's design is even better. Need a Husaberg/BMW style hybrid, with that countershaft/swing arm pivot thing going on, only make it a 300cc 2-stroke, direct injection.

I think if you ask around to the guys riding Husabergs and BMW's professionally that you'll find that the mass centralization can go too far. The lack of weight on the front end gives a vague and undesirable feeling to the handling. The Vertemati and the Yamaha seem to still be utilizing the crank in the forward position. The Yamaha especially is rotating the high weight (mass) of the head and gas tank down and rearward into the central area between the knees. I'm sure this gives a lighter feeling to the machine and better control of the pitch, roll and yaw. Flight control concepts that were given serious consideration beginning in the mid eighties. The Yamaha engineers surely have borrowed from Cannondale and KTM directly. I think that the centralized swingarm pivot/countershaft center has also thrown some unexpected forces into the handling traits of the BMW.
