Interesting. I’m guessing it wasn’t very effective since it’s not a popular/well-known product? It was on a ‘95 RM125 btw so it was early 90’s technology

Those works hondas are fantastic. The amount work put into every single part..
They look like an F1 car or a GP bike of the era.

Wasn't there a company called Icat that came out with a similar product in the early 2000's to enhance the spark of a 2t ?
I don't think the product made a big splash in the US & it went away a couple of yrs. later.

So after scrolling through old forums and reading through factory bikes over the past decade... A real eye catcher came through of JS7 2004 factory KX 125sr.
The parts on that bike are way ahead of its time!! so after doing some digging i could only find a hand full of early 2000's bikes that showed there factory trick bits. Most internal motor work which was never discussed

I was wondering if any one else has got an insight or know of any other cool parts that had been R&D many yeas ago that we still havnt seen today or better yet redesigned.
I know there are more sensors now and DLC coatings and titanium engine mounts and Bits.
I seen Destry abbots and AC92 run a 93 KX500 brake pedal and Rear Swing arms on there KXF's because of the design was more suited to there style and Longer.
Same with JS7's 125. He had a KX250 swing arm on during Motocross season because it was longer and felt more stable at high speeds.

But does any one know of any other trick bits we haven't seen in a while or different to the usual?

Pics are of a few bikes over the years. Krocs 450 with 02 sensors, JS7's 125 carbon scoops, Metty's 125 with the DLC coated internals, RC4 RM250 carbon brake cover, Reeds Factory Carbi in 2004 etc..

So the 93 kx 500 brake pedal fits the kxf250?? Does it work the other way around?? Kxf to kx??? Any modifications??i have a 500 and find decent shifter and brake pedal are hard af

I know the gear shifter does, but Unsure about the brake pedal from KXF going on to the 500.
The 500 brake pedal, you can buy the newer hammer head tips, drill the two hols and put the pins straight on.

My understanding is that it is a one off made for an RM125 to race some of the EMX races in Europe a few years ago. The team in Belgium or Holland (can’t remember) listed a bunch of parts on their website when they dissolved and I bought it from someone who bought directly from the team. It’s a work of art and is going on a very special build if I ever finish it.

What's special about the clutch pack?

Also does anyone know if bikes are not allowed to run aftermarket radiators? It seems like all the factory bikes still use the stock stamped aluminum radiators.
That's because they are by far the lightest.

Not many sponsors for the factory teams back then

If you asked Chad Reed how much money he made with those steel frame Yamaha's he would start giggling right in front of your face.

Back then guys like him paid more in taxes than most of them make now.

Hmm I never even stopped and thought before about how Chad rode the 125 class on a yz250f when he was #103 but then rode a 250 stroke when he moved up before moving back to 4 strokes. Thats a weird transition that he may have been the only person to go the other direction from 4 stroke to 2 stroke.

he did say "may have been".

in a way we may have lost some amazing seasons as cr22 rc4 and js7 had to transition to 4ts.

id geuss those 3 would have still stayed on top if they stayed on 2t and everyone else went 4t....

Honda was ahead of the competition back then. I remember lining up at the gate with an 87 CR250r & looking for other riders with the same bike. I was really confident on the bike & felt the only competition was going be other CR's on the line. Good times !

It’s coming together but won’t be done for a while as I only get the chance to work on it whenever I’m back in England. Will start a build thread.

Sweet RM, and an even sweeter Mugen. Great taste, sir. If your son wants it, the magnesium shock will be surplus to requirements as your fellow Texan managed to find me a proper Showa A Kit shock to match the forks I have.
