This ridiculousness was posted to the Unadilla instagram, these are screen shots but there is actual video on their account. Does anyone have the scoop on this? I’ve heard of crazy shit happening there but nothing like a snowmobile

It was during the intermission. Dude jumped out of gravity cavity and also jumped the sky shot. He was there a few years. Jumps were actually pretty crazy and way higher then the bikes.

Like said above, it was a demo for Ski-doo/ Can-am. The snowmobile was jumping waaay past what the bike were doing. They also had a quad/4 wheeler there jumping out of gravity cavity as well. The guy jumping the 4 wheeler actually knocked himself out , hit his head on the handle bar/triple clamp, doing it, and missed the turn at the end of the straight away and rode it into the fence.

I remember that. They had a cooler full of antifreeze with ice in it running it through the sled between jumps to try and cool it down.

I was sitting in a bar at the Doubletree hotel in Utica the evening after the national this year. I started talking to the guy next to me and I brought up the time a guy jumped out of Gravity Cavity on a Snowmobile. He immediately said, "That was my buddy. I'm the one who jumped Sky Shot". Turns out, he owns a local Can-Am dealership and did it as a promotion. He then bought me and my buddy a bunch of drinks and I don't remember much after that.
He was a very cool dude. His Dealership has been family owned for generations.

I saw that too. That was 2004 and it was out of Gravity Cavity. Farthest I've ever seen something jump out of there. Saw the guy hit his face too. The Can Am quad had nothin on that snowmobile.
The pics above I believe are Sky Shot .

Reminds me of Thomas Brown absolutely sending the gravity cavity the one year we went. I was at this one and it was insane how much farther he was going that anyone else.

They must do it often because the last time I was there in 2004 a snowmobile launched out of Gravity Cavity so high I thought I was going to see someone die! He landed so hard he broke the skis on the front, but rode it back to the pits. Dude never let off!

08' was also a new chassis year for ski-doo so not surprised they were out there pushing their sled promotions. first year of the REV-XP-zx chassis.

I think in 07 the Factory pros had like maybe 10 open mod xp's. Not all pros got that chassis but some where sold to regular people at the end of the year.

I filmed that clip from the screen shot of Corin Todd back in 2009. He rode for Ski-Doo at the time and was asked to jump Sky Shot during intermission. I'll link the edit I made if you're interested. Also check out some of Corin's videos on youtube. He's crazy on a sled.

speak for yourself, jumping something small like a 30 foot road gap on a sled reminds me of the first time I ever hit a double, every time. The pitch correction from all the track weight is sweet though, the brake / throttle really do a ton compared to a bike.

Don't forget that your average 450 has the contact patch about the size of a potato chip where a sled has a contact patch about the size of the welcome mat at your front door. 55 horsepower and getting about 38 of them to the ground versus 160 horsepower and getting all of them to the ground.
