Ummm...what about the rookie??

Edited Date/Time 6/5/2013 8:20pm
I cannot believe nobody is talking about him....the 450 rookie Justin Barcia? I know it is hard to think of him as a rookie, but this is technically is his 450 outdoor rookie season. With one of the most competitive and talented 450 classes possibly in history, Justin has not only finished in the top 5 in every moto so far, but has improved every race since Hangtown. With 5-5, 3-4, and 2-2 finishes....a 1-1 could be coming soon! After holeshotting and leading a big portion of the first moto at Lakewood, it seems his confidence is building along with his results. He sits 3rd in points with a lot of big names sitting below him. He seems to be on track to becoming the stud of the future. Go BamBam!

Dude is riding awesome. It was very impressive to see him run with RV for a bit, and lead the second moto for so long.

kinda gave another meaning to the phrase 'took his line away' re: RV in the beginning of the 2nd moto. he laid a dust screen for poto.

He seems very hungry for that first win, and I could definitely see it happening this summer at some point. The 450 definitely fits his riding style a bit better than the 250f did.

Very impressed with Barcia. In both moto's at Muddy Creek, I'm not sure if he faded, or the other guys (Ryan's) just turned it on toward the end. In either case, as soon as he (JCool figures it out, we'll have another rider competing for moto wins.

I want to be a fan so bad.. He has style, attitude, and speed. Not quite sure what it is, facial expressions, tone, or whatever. but his interviews drive me nuts. I think he comes across whiny or something.

He definitely put on a hell of a race last weekend!

I'm right there with you but I can see quite a bit of maturity in him over the last years. I was definitely not a fan of his a couple of years ago but he seems to have toned down the aggression to a reasonable amount and seems to be doing something right. His interviews could use some work but I think he is moving in the right direction.

he does his interviews like he races, WFO till he's done! he gets his whole speech out in one breath. He did seem to pick up the famous Poto phrase about NOT being able to thanks his sponsors at muddy creek

You have to remember one thing. He has never been to school or socialized with people while he was growing up, in the normal fashion that just about everyone does. He's still learning, and maturity is a big part of it, along with help from his team and others on how to deal with the things that will come up in his career. He is going to be a champion, maybe not this year, but next year Dungey and Villipoto will worry about him more than anyone else. He is young, aggressive, and hasn't reached his peak yet. I'm not a big fan of him, but there is no denying that he has the potential to win some motos this year, and if he can stay close in the points, with a few great races, he can be a contender this year. But I think he will win more than 1 championship in MX and SX in his career.

He's getting to where i thought he would be. He was THE GUY at the MEC and at the first couple of SX races IMO, but after those two big get offs he dropped back a couple of levels. Good to see him getting back up to speed.

He is going fast for sure. However the late moto focus and aggressiveness may not come around this year. The 450 rookie grind may get him.

A lot of guys moving up comment on how hard it is to do the full 29 race season on a 450 versus a 20 race 250 schedule. Barcia has already raced the same number of events that he would in a 250 season but has eighteen 30+2 motos to go.

ya, not sure where that came from. It's not like he is all awkward and stuff like Dungey. He seems like he can joke around with most everybody and when journalist/reporters ask him questions to try to help fuel rivalries, he seems to always just shrug it off and make a comment about how he just loves racing.

Yea he did! You could see it real good from RV's GoPro

Here is the TV clip:

I don't know why they keep calling Barcia a rookie. I know its his first 450 outdoor series, but he just rode 450SX! he has ridden more laps than anyone on this forum probably. that's like the "beginner" class with guys who have ridden for over 5-10 years. it makes no sense. remember when at MEC they said Dungey had only been on the KTM 3 days and then you could pull up photos of over 3 weeks of him riding the KTM.

easy to forget he is a rookie for sure , but he is a Star in the making , and one of the few who isnt beat before the gate drops , im a fan for SURE , and he gets my vote for most stylish (next to Reed) and best whips possibly ever , that recent video from his coumpound doing big look back whips just floating was aaaamazing !

and i think a moto win is coming soon , if not soon the ill say he gets one in the sand at 338

oh and the new Haircut rocks lol
