Go to bed B! Cool

I am also a late nighter, sitting here watching this devastation...man its gnarly. Like i said in a thread in non-moto, the quake of '89 in NorCal was fully gnar, I was just about 20 miles from the epicenter, shit i cant even begin to imagine an 8.9

Sorry to have bothered you...i live 2000 miles from the west coast. I didn't know what "size" waves would hit the
coast. Just wanted to get the word out.

Damn dude, hope your g-ma and family is all safe, will be thinking good thoughts and prayers.

How is it that the magnitude scale works? isnt each point it goes up magnify by like 10 fold?

Shit! even just the aftershocks were as big, or bigger than the '89 quake. I can not even fathom that, '89 rocked my freakin' world!

Each point is an order of magnitude. Another words ten time stronger.

No kidding, size doesn't mean shit when there's force behind them.

No bother buddy. Just didn't want everyone to run for the hills for nothing, though I suppose in this case it's best to be cautious. The smaller waves are only for SoCal, btw.

From a business standpoint what does this mean to the big 4. Getting bikes and parts could be severely impacted. It will take some time to sort that out.
Obviously the well being of the Japanese people is the most important thing at this time.

Hope she is safe. I do know the feeling. I live in Hawaii, but am currently in Indy. I have a wife, daughter, and dog on Oahu. Talked to the wife at 6 am my time, and they were good.

My brother in law is on an aircraft carrier in Japan. He said they noticed their tender barge jostling and had to take in the connections to shore during the earthquake. I haven't heard whether the tsunami affected them or not.

1 to 3 foot waves moving through the ocean at 500 miles an hour. Went 60 miles into the coast of Japan. Not as weak as it sounds I'm thinking!!

I just spoke with my sister who lives in Maui, and she said waves on the big island are up to 12 ft, and 8 ft in Maui.
Both islands can handle that easily. I know my nephew is loving it out there on his board!

Scottie, the manager of our Tokyo office checked in and relayed that it was worse in metro Tokyo, away from the epicenter, than it was in SF in 89.
