Troy Lee Yamaha

Hello I’m relatively new to MX & I’ve developed a fierce love for it very quickly . With that being said I have been wondering what had happened to the Troy lee Yamaha team ? & how they ended up being supported by KTM instead? I’ve look around & couldn’t find any info. Any info would be appreciated, thanks guys.

I don't remember a TLD Yamaha team , but they switched from Honda to KTM a few years ago.

The team Chad Reed rode for in ‘02

Did Jlaw ride for them too? I can’t remember specifics on what happened to that team, maybe it is the Honda and now KTM team.

I’m an idiot, I remember now. Yamaha of Troy is not Troy Lee Designs. They quit operations in like 2010.

Got you, just researched some more & it is Troy Yamaha, something different than TLD, thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Yeah , that was owned and operated by Phil Alderton ( RIP ). Passed away about 6 - 7 years ago. I met him a couple times back in the day , when Mike Brown , andf Mike craig were on Honda's. A friend of ours worked for Nike and used to supply the team with shoes and other stuff. In 98' , That gal's husband Larry , bought Mike Craig's race bike from phil at the end of the day. A-kit suspension and all.
