Troy Lee really went over the top this year, doing so many custom painted helmets and one-off kits (Re: Roczens retro MC/Honda gear) for so many riders. I’m old school, so I’ve been a gigantic fan of Troy Lee Designs in SX for years when almost every rider on the line at any Pro SUpercross or outdoor National was wearing a helmet with his artwork on it. Nobody (in my opinion) ever equaled his style & detail work.

Kudos to TLD! Smile

Yeah it was sad when companies started putting their huge logos on helmets and ended the old school, full custom paint job days. The 90s ruled.

Lieb's company did some pretty good stuff with the retro gear. Hopefully he gets some sales from it. Looked great.

That was kind of an odd one to me. I know that Fowler used to race/ride as a kid, but he wasn't a pro from the 90s like the event theme was about. He wasn't ever a pro racer and doesn't appear to have ever qualified for LLs.

Is it just because he's now a famous golfer who happened to be a local race kid? Or was he better than it appears he was?

I think you nailed it. I was wondering if Fowler was a Red Bull Athlete and they were using his "star power" to try and appeal to a larger audience.

Ricky Fowler puts money in to the sport. Supports privateers, supports Reynard, all of the Oklahoma guys. Ask Bogle or Canard about Fowlers behind the scenes efforts for privateers

Helmet was done by Chris Wood and crew over at Air Trix, they are kinda the defacto Red Bull painter in the US, (with a few exceptions) They also did Cooper's, Ryan's and TPs lids.

Its cause he was going flatbill #golfboysmane.

I have heard rickie was actually pretty good and also raced bmx, but had a foot injury at 14 and decided to pursue golf.

he is probably just a rickie/golf fan. Jimmy d, jordan bailey, jordan smith and im sure many more play quite a bit of golf.

It's stupid because they started the show off with the requirments of the race. One being 2strokes. Another that each rider had to be decked out in 90s inspired gear. But yet the Evil gear was pretty sweet, but maybe the was for Robbie.

I'm not hating on Fowler, I'm actually a fan of his. And for everything he has done for the moto community. Didn't he sponsor Chiz for nearly an entire SX series where he had his name on the shrouds, name on the tent, etc?

Either way it was a cool one off race where the rules don't need to be followed by the book and everyone's there to have fun.
