Normally I wouldn't ask this question because everybody is different. However, I struck a deal yesterday to purchase a 05 RM250 for dirt cheap (under $1000) plus I have all the parts to repair the engine. (Right case has a hole). Other than that, the bike is in great shape.

I had a 06 RM250 RC Edition and absolutely loved it, honestly my favorite bike of all time. Unfortunately, I had to sell it due to tearing my ACL and having to pay my truck payments.

I found this RM250 but the only problem is that it's 5 hours away and the person can't meet me to shorten the distance. This may be a stupid question however for the right deal, 5 hours (one way) isn't too terrible, right?

**Edit**

I will mention that 04+ RM250's are north of $2500 in my area. Reason, why I don't want to spend that much, is that with every used bike I buy, I strip it down, rebuild the motor, and replace wear parts. I want this 05 RM250 because for the price and condition, it would be a cheaper start to my build.

Go get it. Assuming it’s 5 hours one way, take the first five dreaming what you’ll do to it. Then, on the way home, spend the next five hours to figure out how the hell you are gonna pull off all the shit you dreamed up a few hours earlier. See? What could go wrong?

try uship on the internet. I was facing the exact issue yesterday. 6.5 hr drive each way to pick up a bike. I got a guy to pick it up and bring it within a 45 min drive for $180 bucks. Gas would have cost me $110. So I m having him get it.

God I love this forum, thank you all! I called the guy and arranged pick up for Monday. It'll be a long day, however I know it'll be worth it!

Again, thank you guys! I will post pictures of it when it arrives. Keep an eye on the forum.

Here was my old 2006 RM250 RC Edition. Bought it the same day it was listed in 2014. Sold it for $3000. Wish I kept it.

**The wooden stand was a factory Suzuki stand LOL!**

10 hour round trip to get another example of "the best bike you have ever ridden," super cheap?

That's a no-brainer, dude. Get a Big Gulp and some beef jerky and get driving, now.

I have driven that far to get bikes...If the seller is being up front & telling you and showing you what you will see when you get there it's all good...you know what to expect... I find that if a seller won't take a few up close photos to show what it really looks like then they are hiding the true condition. I drove 3 hrs one way to look at A bike that looked decent based off the deceptive photos the seller used, and the seller told me it was in good condition. when I got there it only took 1 minute to realize the bike was a basket case p.o.s.... I wanted to deck the kid, but just got back in my truck & drove home. I don't mind driving for the bike I"m looking for, but donot like getting a line of bullshit about the condition. If a seller can't send me some additional photos showing me all the flaws up front, I don't make the drive.

I drove 30+ hours round trip to pick up a 1978 RM125 in Seattle that I had shipped from Florida. It all depends on if you really want it. The bike went from Florida to Seattle, then I picked it up at my uncles, crossed the Canadian border and drove it back to Manitoba.

I got a little carried away with an Ebay auction back in 2005, for a Can-Am & SWM basket case lot, that cost me a 1700km one way drive to NJ and weeks in the doghouse. When I got there I discovered a set of Fox Factory Forks I wasn't expecting, and I did manage to time things so I could catch the Southwick National on the way back - so it had its bonuses.

So yah, watchya waitin for? Smile

I'd drive that in a heartbeat...especially knowing that you're the guy that tears them down and rebuilds anyway. You only live once go get that beast.

Lol 5 hours is nothing, I drove 14 hours through an ice storm and a blizzard back in 2008 to get a bike I bought off eBay. Ended up taking 20 hours on the return trip due to the ice. I was driving across a bridge and the wind pushed me into the 2nd lane... Gotta love that new bike feeling.

Where are y’all finding these bikes!?!
I've been trying to sell an 06 RM250 RC Edition for a couple of months with no luck in my area. If you're interested send me a pm.. Not a Zuk fan.

OP - Sorry for the hijack.. I've driven up to 16 hr. round trips for the right bikes, glad to see I'm not the only one that has been bitten with the mx bug. The wife & kids think I'm bordering on the crazy side.. Tongue

Go for it man. I had to scratch that itch myself this year. Absolute blast to ride.

Go for it... just sold my ‘05 this summer
... just need break for awhile. Between work and family time, I just couldn’t see it just sitting in the garage every day. Excellent fun play bike, occasional racer. Just a few tweaks is all it needed. Fww, revalve, fresh oem top end and clutch. And a OS front and rear rotor.

I still kept my other baby
