Very curious result. The Husky won, which in itself isn't odd, but what does seem odd is the following comparison to the KTM:

"In the past, the Husqvarna has always rated behind its orange brother, but in this year's comparison, the FC 250 had a snappier feel with better throttle response and mid-range feel, while at the same time revving to the moon and still making great power up top."

This goes against everything I've ever heard about how the Husky compares to the KTM. I wonder why they ended up feeling something so different than what has been typical?

Maybe their side panel was loose. That's all it needs.

I'd think that would make it equal to the KTM, not better.

MXA should have trademarked the phrase "revving to the moon" years ago.

Different people feel different things? These Shootouts are opinion based not science.

It’s true, it wasn’t that long ago when it won the shootouts. It didn’t go from a winner to a complete pile of shit in 5 years. At least one guy thought it was better than the Kawi, which proves it’s still competitive despite being essentially unchanged for a long time now. The other bikes have been radically changed and it still holds it’s own.

Justin hill on pulp said it was the best handling bike and was happy to be on it.

The inconsistent results in the shootouts just shows that the results are not something to hold in high regard. I'd put some stock in the Suzuki and Kawasaki always being at the bottom but with the other brands just pick what suits you...

Some people think I'm crazy when I say I'd consider an RMZ if I was in the market for a 250f. I would, especially for several thousand less than the other bikes OTD.

Fairly typical behavior when Mr. Suzuki signs your paycheck.

Suzukis are great until you try to sell them. Shame since I've had 5 of them and they are great bikes

I rode a buddy’s 2017 RMZ 250 with a 290 kit, ignition, exhaust etc and was blown away. Even with the suspension in stock form (Enzo’d out now) it was awesome! So much fun and handled so good. Only downfalls were the need to be short shifted and massive engine braking. I think the owner is going to be gearing it taller soon.

That Rmz is good enough for 90% in the world stock. A fast rider goes fast.

The TWS shootout proves to me how good the top 4 bikes are. Just a matter of opinion, riding style and feel you like.

Like stated above, everyone should take the bike opinions as simple advice not words to live by. I would be surprised if Keefer Tested shoot has different results also.

You're not wrong, a great bike for the majority of riders.

I don't think I'm wrong in saying that there isn't a "bad" bike sold these days. The majority of folks will never ride a modern bike to IT'S potential. Our skill level will hit the limit before the bike does. If you are one of those rare birds that needs more power and modified suspension...my hats off to you. A KTM 450 really is the equivalent of buying a Ferrari or AMG. Money can make it even faster but.....

No question . The average weekend warrior won't push any of the bikes to their limits . Pick your color and go.

These bikes are supplied by the manufacturers right? So do we know the factory have hopped them up a bit? Do the testers even know?
They should get the bikes from a dealer with the manufacturer replacing a new bike back to the dealer who isn't notified until the procurement takes place.
Straight stock of the showroom floor.
Only run tyres identical to each other.

Exactly. They're all good. But yes some are better.
