Train for you and your body. At our age and after the years of abuse that some of us have thrown at our joints & bones, we don’t need to do some of the things that “ain’t good” for some of our joints/injured parts.
For example: my running days are OVER; so, I bike for my endurance/cardio. My knees “ain’t got no runnin left in them!”.
Another thing about being an “old guy” (or gal) that rides Moto: go get that problem area/joint/pain DEALT WITH. I’ve got stem-cell/PRP coming this summer right after Mammoth. My inner-knees are pretty beat up (bone on bone) & it’s time to do something about it.
Another point that SuperD nailed: NOTHING compares to getting some laps in. Nothing.

As you get older be kind to your joints, you can keep your muscles and cardio in shape but you’re wearing your joints out every time you use them. Don’t be hero just be consistent. Just turned 65 last week.
I ride three times a week, 4 20 minutes motos each ride because I'm training for mammoth and I want one of those wooden bears this year, and it is killing me, this shit is so hard.
Last week driving home from Glen Helen I felt like I had been on the losing end of a fight with Mike Tyson. This is not fun anymore, it's become a quest.
BUT my fitness is good, and I can keep my lap times within one second from start to finish every moto I ride. Riding the motorcycle this much is brutal on an old man like me, but it sure is the best way to get in racing shape.

“I’m not old enough to give on real work blah blah blah”
Then I rode in on pace for about 50’ ft got off and cussed my buddy.
he has the Turbo levo with the bigger battery and motor. I wanted a bike as close as possible to my Carbon Stumpjumper.
This bike is it. It weights in about 36lbs
I did spend a few bucks on carbon rims, cranks, bars and change the suspension.(just like Moto)
For me it’s not about the current ride it’s about I want to ride again the next day or at times a second ride at a different spot the same day.
For a touch point my Garmin shows an average Heart rate of 130 and peak 165 on my 14-17mile loop.
Training isn't allowed. That's part of the benefit of being in that class!
