Its doesnt promote closer racing and injuries are most likely to happen. Lets go 50/50 on the grooming certain sections. Looks like they are leaving as is after every moto GP style. Them boys are bouncing all over the place.
It's only dangerous because of the riding style that guys like James Stewart brought to the sport. The track was definitely rough, but it wasn't like they were trying to jump massive 200ft doubles over a ravine. That would be dangerous. The track is just a track. It gets dangerous when guys are riding at a speed where they have a massively increased risk of crashing.
Most other forms of racing the racers have to manage something else besides just going as fast as they can. Things like fuel and tires. Motocross doesn't really have that. What riders really need to do is manage their risk. Sure, they can go all out and maybe win the race, but will they be there at the end of the season? When someone pushes as hard as Tomac has been, it is inevitable that they will make a mistake.
I don't want to see guys get hurt. It sucks. However, it's going to keep happening if everyone is pushing it to 100% all the time. The only way the sport is going to get safer is if the mentality of the riders change. That's why I thing guys like Dungey are great for the sport. He seems to be very good at managing his risk and knows when to push and when to just ride the track. It's not a coincidence he is always there at the end of the season.
The tracks are too rough.
The tracks are too smooth.
They don't groom them enough.
They groom them too much.
