Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to move from socal to Maryland in the next couple months- and was looking for any advice on what moto tracks are in that area.
If you know of any within a couple hours of the DC ish area, it'd be greatly appreciated

There are a few. Just google AMA District 7. They have a list of tracks and links to their sites.

Budds Creek. It's less than an hour from DC.

Ah forgot the Landing MX.... which is now Delmarva Motorsports Park in Easton, MD.

That's about an hour, over the bay bridge on the eastern shore.

What city you moving to and why are you moving here? This state sucks dude!

Im in Frederick, MD and my favorites are..

www.tomahawkmx.com
www.doublingap.com
www.bluediamondpark.com
www.rocketraceway.com
Seaford, DE (under new ownership and dont think they have a website yet)

www.happyramblers.com is a good track but no open practice except on race weekend which tend to be pretty crowded. You can ride it if you become a memeber, but you are obligated to perform some duties such as flagging, etc.

www.buddscreek.com is not open for practice but you can rent it. Problem with that though is its not prepped on rental days which can be shitty. On race weekend its awesaome though!

www.delmarvamotosportspark.com havent been there in a while. Used to be The Landing MX but was bought by one of the guys that used to run Seaford. Track has changed alot and is in the process of a complete overhaul. The few people I have talked to recently said its just ok and real easy.

Tracks I try to stay away from..

"This state sucks dude! " LOL ..... I agree!

Where are you planning on living? I am guessing you are moving there for work........what area will you be working in?

If possible I would recommend getting as close to PA as you can as that is where most of the tracks/riding areas are.

The thing that is a drag about this area is the unbelievable amount of rain. And it only seems to fall on the freaking weekends.
Last weekend was solid rain for two days, and after a nice week, it's 70% chance of rain on Saturday.
And last Spring it seemed every race was a crazy mudder- it snowed in March. I need to move south again.

Hey thanks for the tips everyone! I'm just happy that there's gonna be tracks to choose from. I'm actually moving near Burtonsville, MD , so all this is pretty helpful.

Yeah, your pretty much smack dab in the middle of all tracks mentioned.

Here is a tip for ya. Get an Ice scrapper and get used to warming up your car for a while in the mornings. We sometimes get snow, but mainly ICE!

I grew up in Laurel.......the Burtonsville Contee Pits cut a lot of the fast guys teeth........ its a shame.....the city recently shut down the best dirt oriented shop in the area down. Sad

Good luck bro. I did the same move 2 years ago (still here). Budds, Tomahawk, etc..
Get ready to drive at least an hour (or two) to go ride.
Mind you, tracks are great and being out east has its perks like many more nationals within striking distance than SoCal.
Budds, High Point, Steel City, Southwick,
Even Unadilla and Red Bud are within reason.
Bad thing is that Budds never has open practice days (it is closest to DC) only practice on saturday prior to race day. Or you can hook up with folks that rent the track.

The dirt and tracks are awesome just not as convenient and numerous as SoCal.

Shoot me an email when you get out here. Hurry winter is approaching.

Yeah, I definitely will be hittin u guys up when I get out there. Can't be riding solo all the time! ... I'm actually stoked because I've never been to any nationals besides Glen Helen. I guess the only bummer is there's really not any SX races out there right? I only live 15 mi
n from Anaheim stadium.. So 2010 will be the first time in a while I miss it!!

Closest SX would be ATL which to drive from there would be roughly 9 to 10 hrs (I think).

back in the 80's they held SX's at Giants stadium in NJ... and they also had one in Philly and DC.
They need to bring one of those back!! Atlanta is 12 hours for me.

here's to hoping that delmarva (landing) gets its ass in gear.. That would be the closest practice track for you, and it used to be my favorite. as mentioned, get ready to drive an hour to 2 hours every time you want to ride.

Antietam MX Park in Hagerstown, MD. 1.75mi race track all to yourself if you can convince the landowner to let you ride. The track closed a few years ago, but it's all still there.

if we could convince the landowner to let us ride, the track would still be open and he'd be making money. I heard they closed it down to put in a housing development. The track is still there?
