Driving from South Dakota to Wisconsin the other day I noticed a place that really should have a track: Just on the East edge of Sioux Falls there are some killer hills on the North side of I-90 - just one of those places that would make a great MX layout. And those thousands of drivers would see the place crawling with bikes......

Anyway, trivia time: What tracks are alongside the US Interstate? Wisconsin has two - CMJ North of Hixton and Aztalan East of Lake Mills (Madison).

Anybody else got any in their state?

between DFW and OKC, I see more than a few nice spots with red dirt begging for a track...

Area 51 off I 35 at the Stillwater exit in Oklahoma. There is an SX track (Chatfield's I've been told?) off the 10 or one of the freeways in So Cal coming from Phoenix to LA... yea I'm not from there.

There is also a sick looking practice track off I 94 in Minnesota right south of St. Cloud. I used to live there but couldn't find out who owned it.

Thunder valley is right off the 70 and 470.

Chatfields tracks (3 of them, not all his) are right off the 10 on the north side in Beaumont

I believe 3 palms is right off a freeway in Texas.

Thanks for the tip on Thunder Ridge - that looks doable on our next trip out there! It drives the wife nuts when we're driving along and I'll start eyeballing tracks/land-that-should-have-tracks from the hiway. She knows what I'm thinking......

The old Delta, Ohio track is right off the Ohio Turnpike, just west of Toledo, and Honda Hills used to be right between Interstate 70 and the old Route 40, 30 miles west of Columbus. Both held Trans-AMA races in the early '70s, and Delta held a national in 1975. And the infamous Pyramid Valley is the track off the side of Interstate 79, right above the Lost Creek Exit. It was owned by Tom Stout, who died a couple years back when he rolled his tractor over while grooming it just before the first practice of the season. He was one of those unsung heroes of our sport...

I don't think Honda Hills is still open. The sign is still there in the tress along the interstate, visible in the fall and winter when the leaves fall, but I haven't heard of much riding there recently, and it's been years since I heard of them racing.

Albany is a stones throw away from I-5. You could throw a rock from the starting line to the freeway.

In 2003 I was driving to Omaha and I noticed a track right off of I-80 near Norfolk Nebraska. Looked fun.

It is just south off the interstate about 2 miles down a dirt road but you can see the scorers box from the interstate. We raced there last year and if it has enough water it gets really rough and has really great ruts. Shoot if you are a Pro rider those purses being offered are some good cash to go chase for sure.

And the Sturgis track during the rally offers a race on the first weekend of the rally. Lots of riders in for the rally bring a bike in and have a good time. Its a pretty good party in the pits at night as well and you can catch the bus and go downtown for a few bucks for a ride.

There's a track on I-25 north of Denver on the way up to Fort Collins. You can see it easily from the interstate. Nice loamy looking dirt. I don't know if they race there. I've driven by several times on the way to see a customer and always wanted to cancel my appointments in Ft. Collins. Just one small problem, my bike is over a thousand miles away in NC.

Also, there's I-40 Motocross on.....I-40 in TN. I think you can see it from the road.

If you look really hard just a few miles before Charlotte, NC on I-85 South on a fall day (when there's no leaves on the trees) you can see Mike's MX track run by former privateer Mike Andrews. You kind of have to know where to look though.

Outside of Milan, Italy while driving from the Malpensa airport you can see a MX track next to the interstate. I believe they have held GP's there?

There is I-40 MX on I-40 Just outside of Knoxville, TN. Then Tunnel Hill some where around Chattanoga, TN on I-75. And there is the The Barn MX On I-40 Between Dandridge And Newport, TN you can catch a glimpse of.

Iron City MX park is located right on I-85 in South Carolina Between exits #102 & #100.

There is a ridge between the pits and the track, but if you know where to look you can see the bikes.

The track in CO is VDRMX or the Berthoud track.

There is a track.. it is about 3 miles north of I90 and I229 exit.. Sioux Valley Cycle Club

http://www.siouxvalleycycleclub.com/cmsms/

It has short track, MX track, little kid mx track and awesome trails for hare scrambles. In the winter there is a pond that freezes and there is ice racing. I live about 15 minutes from the track so I've been there a few times!!

There is a good one in Friend Nebraska on I-80.. there is 2 between Omaha in Ashland and Greenwood, both a couple of decent supercross tracks.

Hey Bill
I think there was a track in that area ( East of 29 and North of 90) back in the 80s and early 90s
Near the weigh station where the Asshole DOT shake down truckers.

Oh and also STFU NEWBIE!!!

I know the Spirit Lake area
I always thought Estherville should have a track.

Also
Wasn't there an SX track just North of Storm Lake back in the day?
