Is there any possible way to walk the track after the race is done, see all the ruts and how gnarly it really was.

They clear the floor immediately following the race to start the tear down. So it's highly doubtful you would have a chance.

Is it because they are rushed for time or because they don't want someone breaking an ankle stepping in a rut? I would love to do a track walk after a national.

Was always my favourite thing to do as a kid, walking over the track to see how fucking gnarly it was was amazing!!!

Back in the day they had amateur races the next day so they didn’t tear it down right away!

I love walking tracks at the end of the day. That is the best part about Daytona although you only get to walk on part of it.

If you look like you belong there it is very easy to sneak in almost ANYWHERE!

This. Just walk out on the track like you belong and if anyone asks, tell them you dropped a tearoff during the race and ask if they can help you find it. Pick one up off the ground and say "No, not mine. Mine had more dirt on it." then just keep walking.

Also make a lap before the race is something special

Years before there are some times, I do not know in what races, where the public participate in a race running on foot, it seems that they had a great time, with some crashs also smile

Yep after the race is done they allow folks to explore parts of the track. No walking up the large jumps probably for "safety" reasons. I love Daytona.

We walked Daytona about 10 years ago. It was beat to hell. I couldn’t BELIEVE how those guys rode it like that.

Not boracross but every time I go to a GP I walk the track after, am left bewildered on how rough sections get.

How do you get to walk the track before, is it only Jason Thomas experience that let you do that?
