I have a friend looking to build a track on his property in Texas. Any recommendations on who to use?

Schaefer Tracks are top notch. Have you been to Bowers MX? They built that track. Scope their IG if you haven't.

Vernon McKiddie has built more tracks in Texas the last 5 years that probably everybody else combined. His work includes Rio Bravo, Freestone, Underground, Village Creek and numerous private tracks including Challen Tennat's and many others.

Cell number is 713.419.0129. Tell him Larry Hughes sent you.

Buy a d9 and build your own.

Make sure the undercarriage isn't wore out. There are experts here that can help with that

Vernon's a beast. If you're anywhere close to Houston you'd be silly not to have him build a track.

This absolutely.......you'll learn to run equipment, be able to customize your track and keep up on maintenance. When your over the hole track thing.....sell it . Probably break even if you buy one right.

It is important to not buy a problem machine or it will break you.....buy one with high hours but taken care of and you will not put enough time on it to even start to wear it out. Take someone with you that knows about tracked machines when you go to buy.

Building a track is like buying an airplane......the easy part is the initial purchase......you need to be able to freshen things up after it gets roached out. And that takes time and money.

Plus moving dirt with big equipment is a hell of a lot of fun, after you get good at running the machine. If you mess something up level it out and start over.

I agree...

...that being said, you might have someone come in to layout and build initially but at some point you or your buddy will need to learn how to keep it maintained.

Let someone with proper track building knowledge, like many of the guys recommended, layout and rough-in the track and then get out there yourself and finish it.

Maybe the guy you hire will offer you some operating advice. Some of these guys won't be able to come back every week or month or whenever to freshen up your property.

Something to be said about doing it yourself but make sure you're doing it correctly.

For the best bang for your buck call Robby Marshall, RamTrax Design! What he did in a few days would have taken me a year. I would have spent more burning diesel plus machine wear and tear, than what I paid him.

Any recommendations for Endurocross Extreme sections also in Texas? Or alternatively where you can purchase cheap telephone poles?
