Several people are saying it's a done deal.

Anybody know for sure?

Found this on Twatter:

The Carlton Dry Thor Honda rider was all prepared to compete in the full 2012 Monster Energy Australian Motocross Championship but with Chad Reed being injured and out for the AMA Outdoors season Townley has been offered the ride.

Although nothing is official and all parties will not confirm the deal, it is believed that Townley will compete in the first two rounds of the Australian series before heading to the United States for a crack at the AMA Championship.

It is believed there are a few negotiations to conclude with personal sponsors and a little bit more paperwork to be done but Townley will ride the AMA Series.

Today Townley is currently competing in the final round of the NZ Motocross Championships where he is odds on favorites to wrap up that title.

Since all this talk about Townley has been going on it got me thinking.

He was on par with villopoto speed wise in 2007, but crashed out of the mxdn.

Does anybody think he could of run away from the field like RV did?

If it's true does that mean Townley gets to ride the works CRF450R Honda loaned to Two-Two when Reed rode it himself?

Or are they going back to their own Pro Circuit built Showa A-Kit suspended bike?

I reckon Honda would give factory support to Townley. Heck, at this stage, he might be Honda's only hope to get a top 3 in the championship with Reed and Canard out. Wonder what Short's plans are though? Filling in for Canard on Factory Honda? Can't see a team called Supercross.com doing the MX...

Larry Brooks stated on the Pulp Mx show that they are contracted for the outdoors.

That's good news.

I never really expected Short to not ride the Nationals. Even if his team's primary sponsor is "Supercross.com".

that moto was absolutely brilliant, probably part of the reason reeds hired him?

when ben is fit, he can beat anyone- he had some great battles with everts in mx1 gps before he went to the states, then had some EPIC races with RV in 07- thats some of the best racing i've ever seen, they were both flying. BT also matched RC's pace at the des nations (05? ) at ernee? not many people can say that.

I just hope he comes into the season 100% fit, and stays healthy all year- he can still win moto's if he's 100%, and contrary to what some of the idiots on this site have said in other threads- bens one of the nicest guys you could ever with to meet, We had a few drinks with him at ballykelly in ireland after he won the mx2 world title- he was very down to earth, been a big fan ever since. He just needs a bit of luck thats all!

Very cool to see another podium-level guy back to outdoor MX, if this pans out.

I'l never forget the 2005 Japan race where BT battled with Everts and was clearly above him that day, he eventually blew up his KTM450 and lost that GP due to a DNF. Was so bummed to see that happen.

Good for townley if this is true...

but why not get him out on the sx circuit and get some laps in against competition...

risk injuries perhaps?

Is townley keeping the 101 this year? And has this deal actually been confirmed? yet to read an official press release..

I don't see the Green Brigade letting go of RV...especially under Reid's watchful eye.

Yeah, I don't really see Kawy getting rid of him anytime soon. He's exactly what Kawasaki wants.
