Bradshaw won a Supercross in Japan at 16, not an American premier class.

And as impressive as jett's run up front was tonight, he is still no Ron lechien, who won a premier sx in his rookie year at 16 against a pretty deep field.

Lechien was 16 and about to get his factory Honda ride. But he was riding for Yamaha for most of the 1983 year.

I thought for sure it was that race. But there was indeed a pro race where he won at 15......I think? I'm going back on 35 years of memories here , and could totally be wrong.

Actually it's you who doesn't know what the hell you're talking about. Nowhere near? He doesn't turn 17 till end of summer. They almost didn't have him race supercross he was so green.

James Stewart at 16 was clearly head and shoulders above the competition. He lost the title to Preston because of crashes but was much faster, and then he waxed everyone outdoors. He turned 17 in December after the outdoor season.

Lechien was fast but wasn't he inconsistent? Jett seems like the type of rider who could begin to dominate. This injury really sucks though.

I remember a dude named George Holland for Suzuki who was really young(like 14) and badass too.

Since you were the one to officially start counting the eggs before they hatched, I blame you for how the 250 main event planned out tonight. Shame! 🔔 🔔🔔

I think the most surprising thing is he only started riding Supercross a few months ago while everyone else out there has been riding for years.

He dropped the current champ in the heat and had this win in the bag halfway through until youthful exuberance / inexperience took over.

James Stewart had just turned 16 prior to his first Supercross season starting. I believe his birthday is in December.

ALSO...forgetting Davi Millsaps who had to sit out a round because he was too young to even race the opener of the East Coast. Millsaps didn't get a win that year in Supercross probably because he was racing against the other phenom at the time; James Stewart. Millsaps did did score a 2nd place at Daytona (his 3rd Supercross ever) that year. He wasn't leading, but he was able to finish.

I'm not discrediting Jett. I think the kid is awesome, but pump the breaks on best ever at his age.

Yea, if the NBA had a 250 class. What an idiotic comment.

Are you asking if it's too early to call Jett Lawrence the best ever, at his age?

Jett looked totally exhausted at the 10 minute mark. He could barely hold on to his bike.

Once he can sustain that pace for 15 minutes+1 he'll start racking up wins I'm sure.

He might be the best 16 year old with the same amount of SX experience. Hadn’t ridden one till the offseason.

He was fucking tired with 5 mins to go tho. Heal up on a indoor trainer bike!

Spot on. I was genuinely concerned with how tired he looked. It's just amazing he could still go as fast as he did but man was he sending it.

That kid has so much heart.

Pretty sure that wasn't a 125 when he did the ramp jump at Arnold's.
