It so reminded me of RV vs Alessi back in 2009 (I think) at GH.

Great riding from these 2 especially Tomac digging deep at the end, but man.. Got to like Anderson. We just might see some more battles between these two this year.

how come El Hombre dropped the pace last 3 laps ?? he dropped seconds a lap , was it lappers ? fitness? bike issue ? as up to those laps he was pretty close to Tomacs laptimes

Broken spirit was likely the cause.

Beast mode was engaged and he had nothing for it. Lappers may have cost Anderson a couple seconds, but fitness and line selection is what really did it for Tomac. His lines at the end of the second moto were so good. He was on another track.

JA21 was focused in SX up to Las Vegas. He has had only 2 weeks worth of outdoors training. That showed last week and reared its head late on the motos yesterday. If he can keep improving we'll see a lot of action there. Couple more weeks and Husky and Anderson will have their act together.

I gotta respect Andersons post race interviews. Marvin always has to come up with something, which is understandable hes a competitor. But Anderson just said "I knew Eli was catching me and then when he passed me I was like okay I get it now haha his lines are insane and hes absolutely flying". Anderson just tells it like it is no excuses at all.

Anderson just let's Tomac by. I remember last year on the podium when Bagget started talking it was Anderson talking about how fast Tomac is. Anderson dosent have the confidence to best Tomac when he is on IMO. I thought Anderson just let Tomac by at Hangtown and now he had no fight in him when Eli came. Unless he was dead tired.

Eli didn't get a really good start (moto 2) and Jason was WFO. After 2 laps I would guess that Anderson had 10+ second lead on Eli. Tomac was on the gas early and made up the gap to about 7 seconds AND passed 25. After this it seemed like Tomac was content to stay about the same 7 seconds behind Jason most of the race. the 3rd from last lap Eli had the gap down to about 4 seconds and the next lap Eli was about 4 seconds ahead of Jason.

Don't know if Jason got winded but Tomac was on a different level yesterday

That was insane to watch, just when you think Tomac is settled in and playing it safe, he turns on the afterburner. Hope ET can get on the other side of Thunder Valley...if you know what I mean.

Its nuts how Tomac was like 4 seconds back and Ralph is like well the gaps pretty close he may be able to close this thing down within the next 2 laps and then within 3 corners he closes it, passes him, and is gone. That... was.... nuts... Anderson is VERY fast too so for him to gain like 4 seconds in 3 turns is ungodly fast.

Yeah I spoke to soon on this one. I have a buddy who is a classic Tomac fan boy. I told him he could “use his tears for lube later” that night and 3 corners later I’m eating my words. Haha. All good though. Was fun to watch. I was sure Anderson wouldnt drop anchor in 2 laps but that’s why it isnt over till it’s over

I was there and yes it was, but a little longer for Tomac to reel him in.

Been there.
Dad (me) Anderson fan; Son #1: Kroc Fan, Son #2: Tomac fan. I was giving both kids a hard time on Moto 2, then THAT happened. Thank you Tomac for shaming me in front of my kids! Woohoo

Anderson has as much or more confidence than Eli he just hasn't got the speed outdoors. Not everything is mental, speed matters a lot.

Anderson and Marvin are two completely different people. JA has been known to make some tough last corner passes on Seely a few years back to win the 250 championship. I cant remember exactly what he said but something along the lines of "no disrespect to seely but a wins on the line and I did what I had to do" then you have Marvin "nice guy" Musquin who cleaned Eli out big time for the win and instead of owning it he starts making excuses claiming Eli turned down too early lol.

Gotta give it up to Anderson for his honesty.
Tomac was so fast at the end of that moto, he says he was feeling it and has the lines- Does he not think “2nd is good points, gets the overall, this will do..” ?
Cartwheeling down the hill and DNF’n is not what he needs.. although it’s awesome for us to watch him charge, it’s not very Dungey like and that’s what he needs to be.. he can’t afford to cough up moto’s worth of points this year..
Anyway that’s interesting to me and no one really asked him that in the post race interviews.. From what I could see he looked in control, but he also looked in control in Colorado 2015...

Exactly. Tomac looks super confident and in control, but things can go south in the blink of an eye, and with the speed he is carrying that could spell disaster.
I guess the press were just as much in awe as the rest of us with ET's final charge to actually make the "shouldn't you play it a little bit safe" question...

How many times have we seen things for Tomac "go south in the blink of an eye"? Every past season? The guy is totally mental, in my opinion. He can ride faster than anybody when he's feeling it, then...it happens.

Nah.

I'd much rather watch someone going balls out on the ragged edge and holding it WFO.
How many times have we heard the phrase, "Holy shit! Did you see what Dungey just did?!" compared to, "Holy Shit! Look at Tomac go!"
