After watching race last nite was really suprised to not see our usual Tomac dropping the hammer pace last nite and especially after the stagger start!!

He hasn't really shown it at any point yet this season, but he has 2 solid results and is in a far better position than he has been previously so he should be happy

He had a bad night in general. Mechanical issues, lcq.. he usually needs to get into a flow to do well and i think the stagger start ruined that. 4th is solid. 15 rounds to go. Hes fine.

Long series and no need to pull the trigger yet. We are in for a good season and definitely a new winner next week.

Compare last year to this in points. He is good. Expect a bunch of wins soon.

Offseason consisted of watching Dungey archives

Come to think of it it looks like there’s lots of Dungeys out there. Take what you can get. It’s a long season

Sometimes backing it down and scoring points at a bad race is better that throwing the championship run. As RC says championships are won on your bad days.

I think he's just taking it easy for the first rounds, doesn't want a repeat of the last couple years. I think he will turn up the heat soon.

I don't think I'm going to draw any conclusions about the 450 class this year until after Vegas.

I agree. Add to that is more of a sand rider not exactly going to push it on hard pack

He was not comfortable on his bike for sure. His bike was not at the top I think. She seemed extremely stiff.

Overall finish 4 and be second in the championship, it's not too bad. It could have been worse.

Throwing a championship away is exciting but ineffective.

Why cant we have different guys at the top for a few races? Enjoy it before it gets boring. All these dudes deserve it. Hope he stays off pace.

I agree, if he could've caught and passed Kenny, I think he might be tied for the red plate(have to double check that) finishing behind a guy(Kenny) that hasn't raced much in past 2 years can't be great for his confidence. I think he'll be fine though, season is just getting started.

He's finished behind KR at both rounds and you think they're tied in points?

He’s taking it easy early I think. He’s tossed away his chances at a championship several years of his 450 career within the first few rounds. He keeps getting a ton of wins but no championship yet. If he has to turn it up and risk more, he will.

He said they would be tied if Tomac would have passed him - maybe.

I think or at least hope he is just playing it smart and getting points and putting himself in a good position points wise. He may still be sorting out the new bike, well never know. The only thing that caught my eye is when he was right on Kenny and marv, and Ken made the move and so did Eli, Ken left Eli and put 3 sec on him. That too me was a bit unusual for Tomac. But like it’s been stated he may be playing it smart and let’s hope there’s another gear in there cause kenny with a Red plate and confidence can be very dangerous for the field....IMO of course

I thought it was a terrible track for passing. Everyone is running the same times. Track too easy for these guys.

" Tomac seemed off pace "........<< what some see.

" Tomac is riding smart ".......<<<< is what I see.

I Think that Eli is turning into the rider that a lot of us wanted to see. More mature and knowing when and how to take his shots. That track for one was sketchy , and I think he rode smart. Hell , he came from a 19th gate pick ( which was like 2nd or 3rd from the very inside? ). I'd say 4th is a pretty good night.

I think he’s in a good spot. That slick track could be dangerous for tomac, with the hard blue groove and tricky long rhythms. After watching him the last few years I’m convinced that no one out there rides a bike as hard as he does. He may not be the fastest every night, but he’s definitely the most aggressive, and I believe has the highest probably for self destruction. like we saw when he suffered his massive crash in the nats with Honda, leading by a minute and riding harder than anyone. If he has to take it down a peg and leave the west coast healthy and move on to the softer east coast where he can ride all out, I’m good with it.

Hes perfectly fine with a 3rd and 4th. Kenny with 2nd and 3rd. Both have matured a lot. Prior years both of them may have started panicking and crashed trying to race to the front. Barcia had a bad result this weekend, Ando had a horrible result last weekend, those are the other 2 guys in the hunt with Baggett who had a bad last week. Ken and Eli had 2 good weeks so far.

The series is between them so far and both have really matured to take the best spot they can and after having a mechanical and having to ride the lcq Tomac salvages the night for a 4th. Thats great. Both Ken and Eli have matured and are looking at the long series and want to stay on the podium or a bad night for Eli with lcq results in 4th...thats great damage control. This is going to be a chess match between the two.
