Dungey HAS to win. If he places second to Tomac he loses the Championship. If this happens I would think he would not retire and return with a vengeance. I look forward to Vegas now.

Lots of racing left. It is very very unlikely they will finish 1-2 or 2-1 the rest of the way.

I think it's very likely myself. Dungey is not willing to hang it out on these rough tracks like Tomac. Either way, Dungey is going to be UNComfotable from here on out..meaning every week his cushion disappears.

Veterans like Dungey only get better with this kind of pressure and anger. As much as I want to see him dethroned, I have this pit in my stomach every race that there is just no way he is going to lose this championship.

If you want to get technical Tomac can win the championship by tying Dungey in points at this point. But to assume that Tomac will win out is far fetched.

A win streak of five is not far fetched
Especially from a guy who has won five already

Wes, Dungey is use to Racking up points...not losing points towards the end and it customary for him to take a second or thrid to protect his points...not this year Dungey...Fans now have a series again..go Tomac

Wasn't it Tomas who crumbled under the pressure of the 250 championship?

What I mean is The last time the series ended with 1 and 2 in points finishing 1-2 in each race was 2003.

It was 6 races in a row with the same podium. 1. Reed 2. Carmichael 3. Fonseca
They were the last 3 healthy factory riders.

Even years with dominate riders like 09 with Stewart & Reed, other riders got in between or beat both of them including the rookie Villopoto winning 2 of the last 3.

With 7 races left, There are several guys that could sneak a win or get in between Ryan and Eli. Anderson/Seely/Musquin/Webb and even Reed have a chance. Who would have thought Jeremy Martin would have gotten in between this past weekend?

I'd rather be in Dungey's shoes, a 17 point lead and 6 regular KTM/Husky riders (Musquin/Anderson/Wilson/Bagget/Millsaps/Canard) on the track to make things more difficult on Eli coming through the pack. Eli has Grant.

Good point about the KTM HUSKY blockers.

If he did win 12 it would be the 4th best season ever.

Record:
McGrath 14 of 15 in 1996
Carmichael 14 of 16 in 2001
Stewart 13 of 16 in 2007
Carmichael 11 of 16 in 2002
Stewart 11 of 17 in 2009
McGrath 10 wins in 1993/1995/2000
Reed 10 of 16 in 2004
Dungey 9 of 17 in 2016
Villopoto 9 of 17 in 2012/2013
Reed 9 of 17 in 2008
Bradshaw 9 wins in 1992
McGrath 9 wins 1994

Que the bears, please! Every day a couple new posts pop up about this VERY SAME BS.

Umm, it is called racing, hence there is still some racing left to do. Stop making it a math meet, a what-if scenario or a crazed, fan-driven rant about your newest man crush. Just enjoy the racing and may the best RACER (he who has the most points at the end) win. I know the same people that do this will be back with their ifs and butts and asterisk talk. To them we just say wahhh, suck it up buttercup.

Eli, best qualifier, best starter, most laps led, most wins. 7 more rounds. Lots of racing left, but could be an epic year between two great riders. Definitely has me tuning in.

Stats after Oakland Rd. 5

Stats after Daytona Rd. 10

Did Dungey lose his shit, or was he pumped by a last to 4th place ride, quite possibly a championship winning ride? I will take the later.

If he didn't have the front brake issue in Arlington, he would have the red plate.

I can promise you Tomac will not win out. That being said, I still think it's likely he makes this thing closer than it currently is.

I'm not saying Tomac will win out but if him and Dungey start together I highly doubt Dungey beats him right now. He's had a better overall season than Tomac but if you can't see that Tomac's clearly better right now I'm not sure what to tell you.

I'll play against the trend simply because nothing is impossible in Supercross. You guys don't think it's possible to see a malfunction with the 450sxf? Another bad start, a crash, get taken out, tough blocks, anything can happen. If there's a chance Tomac could win, don't be so sure he won't. RD is a top talent with scary consistency but there's still a chance. Gotta give Eli credit for making it closer than anyone else on the planet can.

We all know it's just a matter of time that Tomac drops the bike in the dirt. It's like he has bad luck following him every championship. Hell, bike failure, getting crashed into, tangling up, bad start, the list goes on. He's never been mr consistent.

So pretty much if tomac will have to pull of the most unlikely scenario possible. I can see dungey coming in 2nd every race, I can't see tomac finishing 1st every race.

I'm not counting either one of them out of a championship. Anything can happen to either one of them at any time.

It ain't over till it's over.

RD may be Mr. Consistent but he's made mistakes before. He's not invincible, just very close to it.
