I ride a lot of Idaho Single Track, and most of my riding buddies have KTM or Husky 300's. I have always wished my YZ 250 had a little more grunt off the bottom. I tried a RK head, which helped, but I was still wishing for more. A little more HP on the MX track would always be welcome.
I contacted Tom Morgan about a Big Bore kit. He got back to me immediately with three options, 265cc, 295cc and 315cc. The 295cc option seemed perfect so I shipped off the cylinder and head to Tom to work his magic.
Pure two stroke art when it arrived.
Tom included an awesome reference manual about the build as well as jetting specs, etc.
I got it all installed and went for the first ride last week. Tom's baseline jetting spec was perfect. Bike requires a healthy boot to kick over and has a stout bark. After a couple heat cycles and checking nuts and bolts I was able to take it for a short ride on some technical wet single track. Very please with the added luggability. I found myself purposely going into hill climbs a gear higher just to see if it would would work. Put a couple hours on it and could not be happier. I hope to get out some more in the next week or so. I will report back.

Did you ship with the powervalves installed?
How long did it take
The Shop
Or a nice Varner cylinder you'd get in 2026.

Pit Row
I have only ridden mine on single track so far, excited to get it out on the moto track.
With my current gearing (14-50) I can easily roll through corners in 3rd with plenty of pull. Unreal. Thinking 14-48 would be a better, allowing 2nd to come into play and stretching out each gear a bit. I am also going to swap my PC shorty silencer for a longer version.
Also thinking about a GYTR FWW.
Looking at testing one at some point.
That bike BARKS.
