This sort of came out of nowhere! And it's a positive piece as well. The photographer (Rebecca Soderholm) has an amazing eye for the little details of off-road racing, which she calls "pastoral yet hardscrabble landscapes." Very well done!

That last photo over looking the pits at the high voltage gnccs is one of my favorite that was a really cool view. Saw it while biking the course Saturday.

I enjoyed the non-photo hound perspective. A new point of view from a photographer new to a sport.

Bonus points for black and white. Sublime.

Great perspective that shows a raw sport and lifestyle. No attempt made to glamorize a rider or brand, just the beauty of it all.

Most here don't get it, hence lack of views. Always wanting for mainstream coverage, then it happens and indifference.

Hoping that den of vipers at NYT won't use this as a target to stop American red blooded fun living, but if they are there's plenty of ammo in there...

Nice to see a Bettencourt's sticker!

Bit odd to see someone bring a political flag to a dirtbike race though. Strange.

Nice to see a completely different take. .Great capture on the human aspect of the sport. No fuss, no "industry", just real people doing real things.

I appreciate that she also loves a mud race! She captured the combination of exhaustion, ambition and excitement that all comes out during a mudder!

In my area (Oklahoma) it's not uncommon at all sadly. People need to leave politics out of it and just enjoy riding/racing our bikes. Riding and racing brings us together. Politics drive us apart. I'd rather go racing and ride with people than argue politics.
