Are there tire companies at SX that sell the tires at a decent cost to the privateers? How about goggle mfg.? Or do most just bring their own?

Both. Pirelli and Dunlop have support trucks at the races as far as goggles mostly on your own.

Not the tires that the factory bikes are using.

So if a privateer makes the main Dunlop will give them tires for the next race free(2 sets if I remember correctly) otherwise they need to buy a new set. That was how it was in 2019 when I helped a rider out.

Use to be that if the rider had sponsorship from a tire company, you would just take them the wheels for the race bike each weekend and the tire supplier would install the best choice for the given conditions. The tires were free per the sponsorship agreement. The used take-off tires were often handed back out to the privateers to use as practice tires during the week. So each weekend you more of less get a free set of race tires then the take offs were kept to burn up during practice.

Lower level privateers who do not have sponsorship directly from the tire mfgs are probably getting discounts on tires through distributors.

Interested to know what compound the Hoosier tyre runners are using in supercross?

Back in the late '80s when my grubby friends and I used to sneak into the pits, we'd hit up every vendor for stickers and the we'd ask the Dunlop and Bridgestone guys for their takeoffs. I actually got a few Dunlops one year. I really doubt that would fly these days, though.

I've seen quite a number of locals leaving with take-offs from the pro pits over the years. Even as late as two years ago.

I would say it would be between the IMX20 and IMX25 for rears. To me the 20 would be ideal with it excelling on tight/slick. The 25 is very popular though.

Cheers mate. The 20 compound would be good for heat races , the longer main events would test out that compound though
