I got a free tire that came
With a YZ125 I bought
It is brand new never mounted
Still has stickers on it .
My question is does it matter if it's a few years old
Do the dry out or anything ?
Or will it still work the same ?
It is a kenda millville tire

It will be fine.

Ozone is what kills tires. Like storing in a room where a lot of welding goes on.

Put it on and let er rip. Worst thing that can happen to you is you start ripping off knobbys.

Both of my kx’s came with the original bridgestones from the factory in 2009. they worked till the knobs ripped off.

Tires do have a shelf life so to speak. There should be a date code next to the DOT marking. The last 4 digits represent the week and year of production. I.e. 1513 would mean it was made in the 15th week of 2013. Shelf life does depend on how they’re stored but I think the general recommendation is about 6 years if stored properly.

I only use tires sourced from ecologically sustainable employee empowered free range rubber tree forests.

Do what you want.

Pro level guy who changes tires between motos? Probably not a good choice. Weekend warrior who has to buy his own stuff? Run it. Worst thing that can happen is it will wear out.smile

I hope they're recycled forests though, otherwise you're just posing.
