Just spit ballin here so i don't forget. I will write more later. But with the depth of talent in this sport. Whit riders careers lasting longer. More guys to fast for 250's but not good enough to make a living in the 450s. Go back to the days of the late 80s early 90s. Give more riders a chance to ride and progress?
The Shop
But there needs to be a class for the non factory riders, or the journeyman that doesn’t have a shit ton of money to spend!
All the badasses we had BITD smoked the 125.
And that's not easy. Not saying going as fast as the next guy on a 250F is easy, but the 125 is a great teacher.
Actually the healthiest choice would be 350, 200 & 120 cc. Long lived the 450.
No stroke discrimination. Maximum CC per class / can race lower displacement bike in any higher class.
Production rule for 125 and 250. Open is open except displacement and no mods that could potentially be unsafe - major frame mods, etc...
1 Main event per SX, after the 450 LCQ, 10min +2.. (Have to Qualify during the day show, during SX)
1 Moto During Outdoors.. takes place after 450 moto 1, 20mins +2
Would be a hell of a class for exposure and could keep costs and speeds down while grooming the next generation without a ton of pressure.
Pit Row
250fs are now putting out nearly as much HP as a 250 two stroke so thats kind of the de facto "250" class now and the 450s are clearly open bikes
125, 250, and 450s ( just to make sure no one thinks I'm one of those doodles who thinks 500 2Ts - I ride one - will come back ) but, I'd like a 500 'anything' class.
As to any sort of 'handicap classing' that some here have put forward : F**K No!. It's just complete and utter BS that we've had to put up with for far too long. It is not needed, 4T race bikes have long left the " foo foo bike" era .
1 Premier Class any bike, 3 20 minute motos.
2 Filler Classes in between, 1 Mini and 1 18 years and under any stock bike.
Get a pretty good idea of who has real ability on the come up.
