Drove past the track last night, and it was getting a LOT of rain. The soil on that track doesn't drain well. Add to that it's supposed to storm again later today. I saw them trucking in soil this morning. They're predicting some storms tomorrow, but it doesn't sound like it's a given. Conditions today might be rough for the local stuff, but tomorrow night might be ok. About the only issue is that there are a few spots on that track that just don't drain. Not sure how well they can dry those areas out.
I do agree that there are areas that don't drain but they were riding through some of the worst areas for drainage and it looked just fine. Definitely not the mud pit it would usually be if it was a regular riding day out there after the rain. It might be the top soil they trucked in helping the conditions. It can take a lot more water than the blue groove.
I know several of us are hoping for a mud race to mix things up a bit. But, too much mud on that track and it'll just be a traffic jam of stuck bikes.
Lucky it's Colorado. Like they say, if you don't like the weather here, just wait a minute.
If you haven't ridden the track with the fresh soil you have to get out there after the national. You will be happy you did.
