Drove past the track last night, and it was getting a LOT of rain. The soil on that track doesn't drain well. Add to that it's supposed to storm again later today. I saw them trucking in soil this morning. They're predicting some storms tomorrow, but it doesn't sound like it's a given. Conditions today might be rough for the local stuff, but tomorrow night might be ok. About the only issue is that there are a few spots on that track that just don't drain. Not sure how well they can dry those areas out.

Fox News is out at the track this morning with Tedesco and Short who are spinning some laps for the camera and they have said that the track is awesome this morning. I think the rain only picked up for a short time over here yesterday evening and other than that it was just sprinkling.

I do agree that there are areas that don't drain but they were riding through some of the worst areas for drainage and it looked just fine. Definitely not the mud pit it would usually be if it was a regular riding day out there after the rain. It might be the top soil they trucked in helping the conditions. It can take a lot more water than the blue groove.

I was in that area last night at about 6, and it was coming down steady. Yeah, that track might be doing better if it was given half the attention it gets during the race. For such a small facility, they don't take care of it well, relative to many other tracks in the front range. Not sure if it's the combination of soil and terrain, or they just plain suck at it.

I know several of us are hoping for a mud race to mix things up a bit. But, too much mud on that track and it'll just be a traffic jam of stuck bikes.

Lucky it's Colorado. Like they say, if you don't like the weather here, just wait a minute.

There is a huge difference with the track with the trucked in dirt. I remember the first year they brought the national back they brought the dirt in pretty early. The track was amazing to ride. I would go ride almost every day because there was so much traction. Unfortunately not too long after the National that nice soil goes away and we are back to the clay.

If you haven't ridden the track with the fresh soil you have to get out there after the national. You will be happy you did.

Cool. Glad it's in good condition. A mudder in Thunder Valley wouldn't be much to watch. I'll have to hit the track up as soon as it re-opens to us mortals.

I just called the track, and they said the track will re-open to the public on July 1. So, if you wanna take advantage of the new dirt, that's the first day you can.

Indeed. Those first couple weeks after the national are awesome!
