Ross Williams, Sears Point Trans-USA, I believe in 1979... And maybe another FTE photo!

Kenny Zahrt at a fall north south race at Argyll (Labor Day), probably 1976/77

(Loved me those GPII Phantoms)

Thanks Steve, great evening, such a terrific guy, sadly and sorely missed.

Trans AMA, 74 I believe, at Carnegie. Those would have been the Japanese riders bikes, I believe RD's bike is just past to the right (69, only one with leading axle forks, and you can see the tank mod to clear). I think Runyard and/or Thorwaldson's bikes are in the rear.

Notice on the 338, the aluminum tank and translucent side plates, that's a factory YZ?

I had the privledge of seeing "The Man" race one time and it was at Red Bud on a cold fall weekend during the heyday of the Trans-AM series. I'm walking around the track as the first moto gets underway and as the pack goes by me I noticed a rider with his bike wedged between the fence and a small tree (yes the tree was inside the fence). It was Rodger and he was dead last. He used the 45 minutes they raced then to come all the way back to second in that moto and ran out of time to catch his teammate Gerrit Wolsink. Everybody who was anybody in the world raced that series then and the field was dominated by Europes finest.

The Honda Hills Trans-AMA used to take place every September in the early seventies. Track stayed open for awhile, owned by Dick Klamfoth, and now I believe it's all done. The sign stayed visible from Interstate 70 until at least last fall... Not sure if it's still there, but it always reminded me of the Trans-AMAs...

Michael
was this one of your shots of Roger that artist Tom Fritz used for his 70th birthday painting?
