Isn't he aging out of 250 MXGP class after this year?

He is aging out of MX2 so he has two options. Move to the 450 in MXGP or the 250 class i US.

And i can't see him on a factory 450 in the GPs. Unless his connection to Monster makes it happen.

Why did he go to the GPs in the first place? Are his SX skills any good?

If i'm running a factory 250 team in the US i'd sign Covington in a heartbeat. He has at least 4 years of eligibility in SX (unless he wins the title which is even better for your team). If he sucks at SX you know that you will have a contender for the outdoors for the next 4 years on your team.

I would think that Covington has better opportunities (financially) in the US for the 250 class then when trying to get a ride in MXGP.

TC has had flashes of brilliance a few times, but our guys in the lites have him covered IMO..

Isn't his Dad one of the top corporate guys @ Monster?

The replacment for "a man beating up little boys" tag oft used for Osborne here..

good luck to him, hope he puts the wood on fork and cirncy, the 2 walk on water, can do know wrong, gawds around here. (I have nothing against them myself great riders seemingly nice guys)

Cause its a great story; not considered good enough goes os comes back and kicks ass.

I think he would be a good replacement for Osborne in 2019.

He doesn't age out of MX2 (he is 22 now) and he still hasn't decided what he is going to do for next year, at least that is what he told me in Argentina.

Covington is born 22nd January
Febvre (who aged out) was born 31st December... So Covington has one more year in MX2. Said it's going to be a very tough decision for himself.

Oh, i thought this was his last year. Well then i would imagine that he does one more year in MX2?

Osbourne didn't do too great in GP's either and look at him now. I think Covington would be a contender, maybe not straight away though.

IceOne down-sized to two riders this year, dropping Nagl. It's certainly not impossible they'll pick up Covington next year or the year after.

12th place at the MXGP should translate to a walk away win here......

He tore his ACL at des Nations.

He has probably had very little riding in the offseason. 12th wasn't that bad.

it was pretty bad if you're expected to be a title contender. He started up front also the second moto.

Sure, it was far from what he and the team wants.

I just wanted to point out that he tore his ACL 5 months ago. He is probably not 100% yet.

People (Vitards) said the same negative things about Zach Osborne, but look how successful he's been since returning from the GP circuit.

Seems like Osborne got fast when he went to Bakers

Yes, but he was already fast when he won a world GP race. They don't hand-out trophies for simply showing up.

He almost rode for Mitch Payton 4 years ago before deciding to go to Europe last minute.

He had been under Team Green and Pro Circuit nearly his whole amateur career. Did his first few GPs with their support then decided to stay and swapped over to CLS Kawasaki...before moving to Rockstar Husqvarna

He was here at least a few years before becoming successful. He joined Geico in 2013 and didn't win a championship for 4 years. Soooo, yes, he has been successful. I just don't see that as an indicator that TC will be as well.

I'm a fan. I think it takes serious nuts to go over and do the GP's.

Didn't I read somewhere that Covington is moving to the Rockstar Husqvarna team here in the USA next year?

Isn't this a done deal?

... or am I high and imagined the whole thing?

Zach moves up and TC steps in for the 250 class. Zach becomes the third 450 rider for aldon and TC slides into the 250 spot.

If he didn’t have an injury all off season I think he would be first behind Jonas.

There was definitely that rumour but i asked him about it straight up in Argentina and he laughed and said his future is not decided

Who would want to ride Supercross on a modified production bike, when you could end up on a REAL factory Works bike in the MXGP2 class?
