With all the focus on Villopoto flying the flag for the USA this summer in MXGP I've seen very little attention given to Thomas Covington who is currently 7th in points in MXGP2. Let's show Thomas a lil' love for kickin' some major tail and doin us proud! I think he'll be on the box several times this season and could finish top 5 overall with a little luck. Go Thomas!!!!
This year he is looking allot better. I'm stoked to see USA youngsters comming up through the GP's it's quite the different route them allmost every top USA amateur takes!

I am a part time rider-announcer here in my area. We were at a one-off Friday race in Crandon Wi at the truck track during the big Labor Day race weekend on Friday evening. A great race with a massive crowd 15k+ was on hand to watch and I started pimping the CJ vs Thomas rider vs rider dislike. At which time CJ looks at me mic in mouth as I turn off the mic and says "why are you telling everyone we don't like each other?" Thomas pipes in with "yeah we're friends"
I tell them " I know that, YOU know that but ... THEY don't know that."pointing to the crowd ... after which I tell them "you guys have fun and ride hard".
They did... tire to tire wheel to wheel for the next 4 laps the whole crowd was getting into the race that developed between two 65cc riders and literally they were inches apart the whole race,
I'm an old sod that loves this sport and both have gone on to their individual success' CJ following his father in the off-road truck racing world and Thomas to the World GP series. Somehow to me they'll always be those two buddies going at it on a late August night battling it out for 65cc supremacy under the guise of a biter dislike that I, and now you know, was never true.
I love this sport for all the people we get to meet and get to have a connection with that will last seemingly forever.
