Check this out.... Can you imagine the conditioning dedication it takes to be able to get to, maintain and perform at this level?!

Pretty insane. SX guys can't hold a candle to GNCC guys endurance and stamina. Rain started 10 minutes into the race.

I would have fallen out and puked 20 minutes or less into that ride trying to run a pace like that. That is insane.

No bueno. Short bursts of high cardio intensity=good. Hours of high cardio intensity=not good.

i find it funny how much the GNCC guys will say their end of the sport is harder than what MX/SX guys have to go through but at an Amateur level (which most of the ones defending it are) most woods riders can't ride a B class pace for 5 laps on an average track. I live in Utah where we have a lot of crossover riders and the desert guys do 3 laps on a track with jumps and they pull off because they can't do it yet we have motocross guys doing desert races and winning.

Can "most" mx riders ride a B class pace for 5 laps on an average track?

Get in to Ironman racing. We go for 13 hours carrying that heart rate. 3 hours is a drop in the bucket.

I race gncc and dont think one is harder than the other, mx is sprint speed and xc is less intense over a longer period of time. But this pic of kailubs hr monitor defies logic...

You should try a Gncc sometime. Make sure you're battling 3 hours for the lead as well. As a former Gncc guy, I can say those numbers are real.

I agree. Never understood the rival between mx and xc's for some people. Especially, at the top tier level, both take incredible endurance and mental strength.

What motocross guys are winning desert races in Utah? (Overalls...none that I can think of...Utah desert is dominated by exclusive desert/off road guys...Howes, most recently...Knight before that...and Strong before that...and Hannifen before that...with some cross over with each of those where they battle each other. Nobody running at the top of the Utah Desert series are moto guys, Jordan Peterson may have run up front recently at a GP a couple of years ago in Mesquite...but that was as moto as a desert race will ever get-half the course was the moto track...and he was still battling with Knight the entire race...though, and I think he's maybe a moto guy).

if you are talking about motocross guys individual class wins...in the amateur and Novices divisions...then you may have a point. But the Utah desert series-as much as I love it-is NOTHING like GNCC...at all. GNCC is so much harder and so much more physically demanding. The Utah desert series is likely the easiest off-road series in the West.

But amateur (slow) guys are going to be slow no matter where they ride...and pro's (fast guys) are going to go fast no matter where they ride.

Oh, and those same amateur riders that can't ride a B class pace for 5 laps on a moto track...can't ride a B class pace in the desert for 3 hours either. they ride a B class pace for about 20 minutes and then trail ride the next 2 hours and 40 minutes....but they are racing other B class riders that do the same so they can still win their class (Just so you're aware).

That's insane ^^^^

I think I remember hearing that moto gp guys have a similar average heart rate during a race, but their races are around 1-1.5hrs long.
