WOW!....I think it won't look that impressive to some....unless you think about it for second. Look at how small that landing ramp is.

You over jump it.....it's gonna hurt.

You come up a tad short........it's really , really going to hurt.

Guy has some balls for sure!

Those are huge but also have huge landings. I still think the british blokes jump is pretty f-in impressive.

Big air by RV but step ups are easier than they look.

I would much rather short that jump and flat land it, than screw up the other jumps. Now, if he cased it that would be bad for sure.

I saw Kevin Widham pull a jump back in 94 right before he turned pro at a local Texas track that just made my jaw drop. Insane crazy. Rather easy uphill double that he almost turned into a 200 + foot downhill triple. Thunder Mountain raceway in East Texas, one of those tracks you wish was still here.

He broke the frame on both his back-up bikes doing that step up. I have a video of that somewhere, I was racing the 125 Int that day. Honestly it's probably better remembered than seen again, my Dad was making the regular gap on his 73 Elsinore.

Why do you think the Leap has a "huge" landing, cause it doesn't.

It's buried in my Dad's closet, I'll see about digging it up next time I go visit. There's some other shaky handy-cam gems in there too. 14-16 80cc Loretta Lynns footage featuring Windham, Robbie Horton, Brad Woolsey, ect. Some stuff from my Schoolboy and B class days at Lorettas that has Pastrana, Short, Wey, Fonseca, Marley, Riddle, Payne, ect. I even got some stuff with Bogard and some other dudes on 60s. But that's REALLY shaky..

The jump is damn impressive. Mostly because I don´t think it was supposed to be jumped that way in the first place. But I remember someone posted a insane jump form probably texas or somehting on here a year ago or so. It was basically a tabletop with a small straight after it before a downhill. Some crazy guys would jump the table and straight and land in the following downhill. i thought that jump and the one in this thread was way more impressive than LaRoccos Leap.
Anyone know which jump I´m talking about?

hes basically landing flat. so pretty much as long as he doesnt case it, it doesnt matter. as for loraccos leap, you dont want to case of over jump that. video doesnt really do it justice. you need to actually stand on the face of it, looking towards the landing. no to mention, its completely blind.

Who's your dad? I was racing my 74 CR125 and 250 that day. Womens International race was going on as well, Kristy Shealy and Dee Wood were tearing that up back then. ESPN's Motoworld was on hand filming and I think they had some footage of Windham.

Billy Smith. He raced TVRC heavily in the 90s.

He kicked ass on the old bikes, some epic battles between him and some of the other fast guys in that class.Him, Mark Andrews, Randall Tartar, Kelly Donaldson, Bobby Lucas, Joe Busby.....fun times. Seem to recall later on, he was running 87 CR250 forks on his 89 or 90 CR250? And were you riding a 79 CR250 with him up at Village Creek back around 01 or so?

Guess the difference is, you know Larocco's leap is doable, its been jumped hundreds, probably thousands of times. Looks like this kid found a line that wasn't supposed to be there, thought 'fuck it Im gonna do this' and pinned it... different proposition to a huge, but proven jump. Either ways, its nuts looking.

They were actually KX250 conventional forks, but yes. The first upside down Honda forks were so bad he machined custom triple clamps and ran those KX forks on at least 2 different bikes. I rode and raced his 79 a few times, mainly at the AHRMA events. After I took their money on that stock clapped out 250 at Tyler they made a rule you needed to be 30 to race the pro/money classes. Around the early '00s he landed from that big ski jump at Tyler and the handlebars broke. He pretty much swore off vintage stuff after that.

The leap landing--10 years ago--was in fact very small (and a lot less forgiving if you didn't hit the sweet spot). Since they changed it, the landing is a lot bigger, but still difficult to land considering how F'ing big the take-off is.

When was the race from? Mosier Valley had the Pro Privateer, 180 bowl turn, down a hill and back up onto a table, or you could pin it and stretch it out and connect the table into the double after it. However Mosier closed in 2004.
