Or maybe they could slow down instead of pinning it down the side of the track? I like it. Slow down to re-enter and it won’t be a problem. There should at least be a small punishment for going off course since the AMA usually decides not to do anything to a single or double digit number.

they should dump a bunch of soda on the concrete to minimize the slip

could it be the rider going way to fast to re-enter? idea: slow down before re-entering ....... (cant bubble wrap the world)

It's happened many times before. These guys should know to slow down.

Guys should know by now , that you cant pin it on concrete on knobblies. Amazing how these guys can hit jumps inch perfect , but cant ride on flat ground.

I think this whole speeding down the outside of the lane is bullshit. They need to enter where they left the track, or very close to. To keep racing after leaving the track is nonsense.

This^

I can't remember which 250 guy it was last week, but they almost got their spot back at the end of the sand section. Lame.

Lay off the front brake if you're going to be hauling ass down the side of the track.

Agreed. Bring in the clown show Vikki Golden was riding for, they seem to know their soda.

The sticky stuff is already there; their tires. They're just riding above the level of grip trying to rush back on the track in a hurry and save time. In the end it costs them more time to rush to an opening than slowing down and making sure the grip is there.

It's the same thing as when guys would crash years ago when 4 strokes had carbs. Take an extra 3 seconds, put it in neutral and it fires right up. Instead they would kick and kick and kick with the bike in gear and waste time and energy.

As the AMA seems fine with letting guys race wfo along the track when they go off, those foam squares are laughable. How you gonna attach them to the floor so one goose of throttle from a 450 doesn't roost them into the stands?

The answer has nothing to do with foam blocks, carpet, or more dirt. You go off the race track and you are no longer racing. Implement a 1st gear only rule and have select spots available for re-entry. This racing along side of the track pinned in third is gonna get somebody killed.

What does the AMA have to do with it.......

I wonder if today's pros have ever spent time play riding like I did when I was a kid. From watching, it looks like many of them could benefit from the experience.

Downsides? Cleanup. Everything would look like a disaster area after people walk and/or drive mules on it. Also, what if someone does go off the side of the track, crashes, and gets hurt worse because of it being there?

The track crew needs to put whatever soda syrup alternative that actually works onto the concrete around the track. Several times now someone's crashed because they were trying to re enter the course and the front end just slides like it was on ice. That's dangerous for the track crew to dodge a sliding bike that's travelling 35mph and also for the rider hitting the deck onto raw concrete. It seems like a no brainer to me.

Are their any downsides to this?
Dirt on concrete is slick, stay on the fucking track.

We need to teach those damn riders a lesson! Mistakes will not be tolerated. They deserve whatever they get if they go off the track.

anyone else think the opening ceremony fireworks have an effect on the stickiness of the concrete?

I'm in the "don't pin it along the side of the track crowd"

Keep that shit slick, should be a penalty for going off the track. Absolutely blows my mind some people just don't seem to understand that.

The "enter in the spot you left rule" only worked for 35 years straight without a problem. It does not work any longer. lol

Seriously. Just go back - how hard is that?

Leave the plywood down, that would be huge help. To say its BS that they are speeding is dumb, these dudes are in full blow race mode and are in the zone.....I don't blame them for it one bit and everyone of us would do the exact same thing. Say you wouldn't and you are not a racer who wants to win. Plain a simple.

Damn, can't they lay down some carpet remnants?
Even the freestyle kids would do that.
