Cannondale MX 400 period, end of story, end of thread haha. Compression braking was so bad the front end dove and it blew up after about 4 hours. Also weighed in close to 300lbs I believe.

Any Yamaha in the 80's.

And I raced one all 10 years.

Ive lucked out and have owned some rad bikes. My '06 CR500AF was probably my worst though. The vibrations were terrible. After a moto I couldn't feel my feet and hands.

09 CRF450. Flame Out is just the most frustrating thing to deal with.

It was decent on a trail but the clutch was just terrible.

1987 rm 250... My first brand new bike.... I did not think it was that bad until I rode my friends cr 250....wow..I bought the wrong bike....was fairly reliable for me at the time, a novice rider....but the worst modern bike was a 2006 YZ 450f..the Ti Shock spring snapped landing from a pretty small jump, destroyed complete shock...then, transmission locked up in a whoop section, all gears & shafts destroyed, parts on national back order, then the engine started howling? Tore it down, broken wrist pin? Oil pump failed, top end & bottom cases needed replacement...I had to buy a YZ 250 2 stroke to finish the season! Have not owned a Yamaha since...

I rode a lap on a '71 Bridgestone 175 Scrambler. It didn't have a sign of brakes. No matter. The tank on the thing was looong. It butted up against the seat in the most vertical manner possible. At least 3inches higher... I may have made it 100 yards before all the wind was driven from my lungs via my suddenly 90 degree valve stem. Prior to that particular motorcycle, I had never turned down the opportunity to ride anything.

I was ready to sell mine, but sent the suspension to Factory Connection, added flywheel weight, Scotts dampener, and damn, turned out to be a great off road racer. Great CR motor.

Serious? We had one of those and that thing was superlight and felt even lighter. Pretty well suspended stock, cornered like it was on rails and would stop on a dime. Very high strung stock, a little of the base, port cleanup, head work, V-Force, Dyna FS ignition, FMF SST w/ a Bills Shorty.....life was good.
Agreed. One of my all time favorites.

2012 KTM 450SX. Should have come with the warning label "May eject rider at any moment." Great motor. Plain scary chassis. Crashed so many times and gave zero indication something bad was about to happen.

Worst = slowest/heaviest? If that's the case, the 1972 CZ 125 is it for me. I had just gotten into racing, on a Penton...and a guy moved down the street from me from Cali who had the first CZ I had ever seen. I was expecting it to rip, but it was the biggest disappointment ever...super slow, and it felt tons heavier than my green tank Penton.

Isn't it amazing what difference a year makes? The '96 Honda CR250 was one of my favorites ever...and I read post after post on this thread saying how much the '97 sucked. "New & Improved Technology" is sometimes not Improved.

In 1992 I got approved for a loan before the new bikes arrived. I was told to pick between the four brands, but the Yamaha was already in the showroom, so I picked the Yamaha. What a mistake, total slow engine that year. I was so bummed the thing was a slug.

Probably not fair to call it a "bad" bike, but it's probably the worst bike I've ever ridden. It was the 1986 RM 125. The bike actually handled pretty well, had good suspension considering it was the eccentric cam rear suspension that they dumped a year later, but the bike was so slow, no amount of money thrown at it would make it faster. Actually throwing a shit pot full of money did make a slight difference as it lightened your wallet which in turn meant it had to move a lot less weight. Smile

Mine only vibrates when I'm stopped and its nothing crazy, its a 2006 CRF250r with a 1989 500 motor. I had 1997 CR250 and it's just a bit more vibration than that. That might be a terrible example as the frame geo was horrendous on the 1997. When I'm riding I don't notice it at all however. I think this has a lot to do with the headstay design.

Mine was the 1997 CR250. I just trail road/natural jump rider but getting that bike to turn was a real chore. I really liked the motor however, lots of low end grunt and I was clocked at 65mph stock gearing. It liked to run but the frame really held it back.

I hated mine. Could of just been that motor. Debated on rubber mounting it, but never did. Ended up snagging a 2000 steelie. Then did a suspension conversion/graft front and rear from a grenaded 2009 crf450. That bike was a dream! Of course I was an idiot and sold it. Now I have a mint bone stock '99 and I can't bring myself to cut it up.
I love the big smokers though.

I'm slowly working on it still. I REALLY want the e-start Panthera setup. I want to lighten it up some also, ti axles and some key bolts to start.

I plan to build a sand bike with the high comp 1985 CR500 motor and any AL roller I can get for cheap. I just saw a 2006 CRF250r complete roller for $600 on craiglist... I should of bought it, if just for a parts bike for mine.

I still need to ride a modern 4 stroke, been off bikes all together for 10 years and chose this Cr500 conversion as the one to bring me back. Laughing
