Owned, my KTM, until I put a Scott's damper and had the forks done by FC. Now, I love it some of its characteristics and will probably never sell it.

Had a TM400, never raced it but at least it had power.

Worst bike I ever rode, a friend TS185 Suzuki 10 speed, 2 @ 5. It had the most dead motor ever!!
Think the "dual" range Suzi's were TC not TS. I have two TC 125's. The straight 5 speeds were TS. But do agree they are short on power.

Sorry I am not as knowledgeable as many here so I prefered to skip this one, but when I saw 125 YZ 93, I could not resist. I love Yami, but once I borrowed a 93 on a local track and the thing was so slow, slower than my 80, that I was not even moving the throtle, just leaving it wide open.

Now back to the topic:
80 KX, really unstable & bad position comparing to the YZ or even the old CR.
125 RM 93. I still wonder if the front touched the ground.
Gas Gas 98. That conventional fork was just not dialed in.

Best:
250 YZ 1988
KX 125 1994. 10 seconds a lap faster than on my 80 YZ, from my 3rd lap, including a 33 meters table top. (overjumped 8 meters, oups, and the bike did not even move...)

Sorry I forgot the first generation of aluminium frames.

Anyone alive from riding a CR 125 1998 or CR 250 1999 deserve a medal.

I completely trust your opinion/report, but still......................I had such a crush on that bike in the early 1970s.Blush

It just looked so right for that time period, still looks rather sexy if you ask me.

Only bike to ever come out of Mexico, that I know of.

Worst.........maybe good for the day, but the Yamaha DT1, a death machine.

The first gen aluminum frame Hondas were bad. I had a 99. It was very harsh and had massive vibs at the bars and the footpegs. I have had my hands go numb on many a bike, but this was the only one that would put my feet to sleep. The fork was garbage as well. It defined the term "mid-stroke harshness" I think this was the first production twin-chamber fork. I might be wrong about that.

The engine was fantastic though.
I agree .

Don Jones (father of Gary and Dwayne) manufactured a bike around the same time period, Mexico based, Ammex was the name.

Built in the Moto Islo ("is slow" LOL) motorcycle factory, Mexico.

Not only did it not handle it broke and then parts were hard to come by. I worked at a shop in Renton WA that sold Montesa, Pentons and Carabela. So my ride was at no cost to meSmile

Yes it has great lines but after a couple of dates the sex was bad and the personality suckedDizzy

Personally, the 1998 KTM 250 was the worst bike I ever rode.

Loved it when I had it, but realized it was a real piece of shit when I got a 2001 YZ 250.

my 2000 250sx was shit aswell. Vibrated like mad and the engine cases where worn out where it meets the swingarm. Had to shim it after every ride so the swingarm did not have axial play. What a nightmare....

my worst has to be my 1982 yz 125... funny thing though I would rank my 1980 and 1983 yz 125's in the top five best bikes I have owned... have owned just over 70 dirt bikes

Post yours!

Come on you guys....the slower early 1980's YZ125 were not that bad! Slower of the 125's at the time but you could have a blast play riding them all day. 1998 KTM 250? Come on..... that would make a great off road play bike today.

Now this is a horrible bike. 1974 CR250M. Overrated at the time. Horrible handling. Not fun to ride. Owners wish they bought the Maico, Bultaco or Husqvarna. Narrow power band. Rear wheel swaps around no matter what you do. Sound like fun huh!

Like to add.....hard to turn. The bike resists turning. Total bummer.

I thought this looked awesome, but when I owned one, it was horrible! Was supposed to be the first 125 that had 40hp, but it really wasn't that fast... All around quality was very poor as well!

Sometimes I think back and wonder if I'd done significantly better had the bikes I raced not been comprised of the following:

1987 YZ80
1990 YZ80
1991 RM80 (the exception)
1990 YZ125
1991 YZ125
1993 YZ125

sigh

worst bike was my 1983 xr350, twitchy pos. Engine temp ran so high that the dip stick would melt. Engine blew up 1 day within the warranty period, took 3 months for dealer to get bike together again.
This second worst was my 2006 TE 510, great engine but chassis and forks were abysmal

most fun bike 2007 Gas Gas 200 trials bike

1994 RM125. My first big bike.

Loved it when I had it, because I didn't know any better. Had bad reeds (didn't know) so it fouled the spark plug EVERY time I started it cold. Was a ritual. Start, would die in 5 seconds, change/clean plug, then go ride for 2 hours. Same thing the next day.

i know people won't be happy about this, but the 2010 YZ450 was by far the biggest piece of shit i've ever ridden. never felt safe even once.

my 2003 CR125's.. sooooo fucking slow it wasn't even funny. i actually sold my '03 YZ125 and picked up a ride with a Honda shop that gave me bikes. halfway through the year i wanted to give them back and buy another YZ, they were fucking horrible.

My worst bike was an 85 yz 80. I bought it at a garage sale in 1992 for 200 bucks. No clutch and the kick start was broke off but the bike was probably fine when it was new. I wouldn't know i was 1 when it was new.

The worst bike i have owned and ridden that i bought new is this piece of shit 2009 KTM 250sxf

It was impossible to keep on the track. constantly broke down and parts were double the jap bike prices. Motor was all top and the suspension was HORRIBLE!!!

That said I really liked all of the suzikis i have owned
1994-1997 RM80's
1997-2001 RM125's
1999-2002 RM250's

The only shop close to my house was a Suzuki only dealer so thats what we ran. Ended up getting sponsered by them for many years and getting my bikes for dealer cost. I guess my opinion could be biased a little though. It was awfully nice to get two brand new bikes every year for the price of one

The worst bikes of the last 10 years are a tie for me. My 01 cr125 is slow as fuck and I've done everything to it. And also had a 2004 rmz 250. I overheated both bikes regularly and I sold the rmz cause I knew it was a ticking time bomb. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with my 01 cr125. Haha

Anybody that has ever ridden one would completely agree. Once was enough for me.

1980 Can Am 125 MX-6
Two broken frames. No low end, no midrange, no top end...really smooth pit cruising power. Changing the air filter required $30.00 worth of tools and 45 min of your life. Great mud bike...oh, the brakes didn't work when they got wet.

I have to agree that gen of KTM250SXF was really nasty. My buddy had a 2006 ver of it. Nasty evil handling machine. It was such a pile of crap!

When I was getting back into the sport in 2001, I bought a 1992 KX250 and thought it was the fastest bike in the world. Then I went for a ride on my brother's 2000 CR250, and that bike just about pinned my eyes in the back of my head. I couldn't believe the difference in power in two different 250cc engines. But looking back in some magazines and reading the shootouts, the '92 KX250 was a roach. If only I knew!

The Briggs mini when the rope broke.
The S90 when the chain snapped.
The Rat when the ring stuck.
The CZ400 when my pant leg got caught around the kick starter and I fell over "Laugh In" style in the middle of the town Parade.
That same CZ 400 when packed with snow the slide froz wide fuckin open and the brakes were too wet to stop it even with dumping the clutch in 4th gear to attempt a kill only to have that evil possessed rock thrower wheely out of my hands up a side cut throw a mean scrub and roost wildly back at me giving me just one last chance to Karate kick it into submission or at least I thought I had when I wet soaked glove ripped the spark plug wire out of the monster for a kill... but it kept screaming at the top of its lung until finally turning off the petcock and it sickinly ran out of fuel......AHHH!
Geeze... that was just my first 4 bikes and still but 16....now 40 years later and a thousands plus knobbies....better leave it at that.
