The friend with the weird shit??? Just keeps getting weirder. Helped him paint up one of these Spanish gems constructed of leftover water pipe from the war. Which war nobody knows.... Ossa Stilletto.

That thing is a piece of gold. The 71 Stilletto was the first step for the Enduro 73.

I don't think it's fair to call it "worst" bikes. Those, as you might know, were the days that to build a dirt bike was easy as taking a road bike, put off-road tires and wide handlebars.

In fact, there was a spanish championship called TT, with those bikes, with road tires and wide handlebars. And the races were in downtowns.

Ah! And after the war, as you say, it's a nonsense. Spanish civil war was from 1936 to 1939. The II World War was from 1939 to 1945.

None of each wars were the beginnings of those industries, as OSSA started it's business in 1942.

Biggest turd I ever owned...

The brakes, suspension, handling, power, shifting, clutch and durability leave a little to be desired, but the cup holder and luggage rack are a nice touch.

1997 RM250. slow, slow, slow. First time the motor was apart for a top end, I discovered that the power valve flapper had two sharp pionts on its furthest ends that had been rubbing the piston since new, and had rubbed two grooves in the piston and rings. Nice engineering there. The brakes did not work very well. It was a total pathetic letdown after owning and riding a beast of a 1995 CR250 for a couple of seasons

McGrath referred to the 97 RM250 as an RM175. Said his starts were pretty good because it wouldn't spin the wheel.

When DeCoster finally got him a firecracker of a motor for Gatorback, someone forgot to put oil in the gas. All of the attention and R&D going to McGrath, pissed off LaRocco to the point that he also threw Suzuki under the bus. He didn't have any clever nomenclatures, I think he just called it a "piece of shit".

Hey Burn... Thats interesting. I put the YZ125K down as one of the best bikes i ever owned. I had the G and the J and they were piles of rubbish. I felt the K finally had the handling package together, which was the most important thing for me on the sand tracks. It was a little slow but a port job got them going.
I second that. Loved my 83! But maybe the 1981, 1984 and 1985 were so bad I just thought it was good?

My 84 KX80's had grenades for motors.
By far the worst bikes I had ever ridden.

I loved the gold rims.
The only slower 125 I rode was a 86 RM125.. and maybe the 02 CR125.

Took a while to get to this bike. This turd was so slow, no amount of money could make it go any faster. To this day, I honestly believe the transmission had six reverse gears. Either that or I was always dragging an anchor around with me.

Not sure what the difference was with the 86's compared to the 87's.
I had an 87 RM125 ,I loved it.
We went to a 53 tooth in the rear and went with a DG pipe & silencer,Barnett clutch ,wiseco top end and it had great bottom end power. The suspension was great IMO. I can remember getting plenty of hole shots on it.

I've never ridden this bike. It might ride great. But this is hands down the ugliest mx bike i've ever seen.

I was cruising through the first part of this thread in amazement that there hadnt been a mention of the 97/98 CR 250 then good Ole Terry says he loved his and instantly I did the pakard face palm!!!

I agree with the hatred of this bike, i bought the first 98 from Western Honda in Scottsdale AZ... I took it out to one of my desert riding spots to break it in and within 15 minutes i wanted my 96 CR 250 back. I called the guy I sold it to and asked if he wanted to trade me and he said "hell no I heard those things suck!" and i was stuck with mine!!!!

Smack yourself in the face all you want, but I still loved my 98' in the woods. It was incredibly fast, had amazing suspension and handled well. I never could figure out why so many people thought it was so bad but I guess maybe it was because I never raced moto with it, only in the woods. It's just personal preference I guess.
the 1997 was worse than the 1998 and 1999. BOTH the 98 and 99 though, there is a pattern of like or hate. the pattern seems to be the following: if you where a bigger, heavier, guy, you loved the bike. if you where a smaller guy, you hated it. Me, being a member of the bigger guy club, loved my 98. fastest I ever went in my life was on my 98, fast enough to have enough points to get my pro license. It was a bit "tuning forkish" on your hands, but slap some pro tapers on it, was all good. motorwise, it was a bit soft off the bottom, but once you got to the middle, NOTHING could touch it until it hit the rev limiter and even then you were flat gone.

WORST bike I ever rode.... 1992 yz125. omg what a turd. The motor was so slow. you literally had to hold it wide open until the revlimiter popped and then shift.... and thats the only way it would shift without the clutch. The brakes where so bad... not that it mattered because you couldnt get going fast enough on it to actually need brakes. turning? it wouldnt. bulky, ugly, just a joke.

Post yours!

I haven't had a chance to read through this entire thread.....but some of the choices for the worst bikes kind of surprise me. Especially the mid 2000 RM's......those were awesome bikes from everyone I have ever talked too.

But Nate.....you posted the pic of the YZF , and I gotta say I owned one for a while. I only sold mine because I was just going to get out of the sport and quit all together. I was off the bikes for about 6yrs and picked up a 2010 YZF450. I rode it for about 7 weeks when I banged myself up a little and just decided to sell it. I actually really liked that bike. I bought it new and set it up ( bone stock ).....and it had the best overall stock suspension of any bike I had ever ridden. I think if I would of kept it and took the time to set it up for me even better.....I'd probably still own it. Great bike as far as I'm concerned.

I've ridden a lot of crappy bikes over the years.....but since I've came back , the two best bikes I've ridden were both almost new. 2011 RMZ450 ( loved it bone stock) and my buddies 2011 and 2012 KXF450's. Great bikes. I still own and ride my 08' Honda CRF450......and as far as "fit and feel"......probably the best feeling bike I've ever sat on. Even though the suspension lacks a little compared to these newer bikes.

Wow, I get maybe not a favorite but the worst bike ever? Just started riding again after a 7 year lay off, and this is my current ride- has 20mm clamps and RG3 Diamond Kit Suspension and I think it's great- every bit as good as my buddies '12 KTM. I guess this thread shows that a guy's taste in bikes can be like their tastes in women- diverese. Fun thread though.

Were you riding it in the Mini Jr. class? I don’t care if it had a 83 tooth rear, it would still have no low end... My fav part of the bike is the "horn" on the head that Suzuki tried to pass off as part of the "power valve" At least that does explain where the power went.. cause it never got transferred to the rear wheel.
The '86 and '87 250 however were rockets. Great power and went around corners like a cheap whore.

This is my 2004 YZ250F - Bought it from some weirdo dude in town who claimed to be an up and comer until he busted himself up at Mini O's in Vegas. Anyway, I loved this bike because it was mine, but I hated it because it was mine. Slow, sounded weird as hell, and handled like a minivan. And not a nice minivan, either. The motor itself was actually okay, I rode it at the dunes a lot and it had some quality pull to it, but it was geared weird and was too stiff and fat to really get moving comfortably.

. You must be joking, the 03 CRF would just about get my vote for one of the best bikes ever. The only thing shitty about the 03 CRF is valve life. I can still remember the first time I rode one. I had a mildly tricked out 02 CR250 in almost new condition. Two laps on the 450 and I instantly knew my 250
was obsolete junk. when I got back on my 250 I really wanted to ghost ride it off a cliff, the 450 was so much better
