Now that RV is retired, who do you think will be the next up to the plate to claim the number 2?
Making a comeback.

RV has had a great career without a doubt. It doesn't seem like it stands out enough to warrant retirement when compared to some other greats.

I hope Cooper wins the outdoor title next year and he can take it. Kawi would love it if Adam could grab it.
Would Roczen take the 2 (2016 supercross)?
I doubt J-Mart would take the 2 as he already has a single digit (also why I didn't put Tomac in 2016 supercross).
I don't exactly know which riders really like their current career number but I would think Musquin or Roczen would take the 2 if given the chance.
I am really certain (not 100% though) that in the GP scene the #72 is retired out of respect for Stefen Everts his accomplishments. Maybye someday if his son turns Pro (currently racing EMX 65 class) he might be the person to use it, would be sweet I guess they'll do the same thing with 222 after AC retires in Europe.
If barcia wins a title...

-edit-
many riders have been given the opportunity to choose a single digit number and have stayed with their two digit career number instead. That is not the same as not being able to choose a single digit if you already have a career number.
