I have no clue, may be a few years before anyone does.

I hope they retire the number for a couple of years to honor RV's legacy.
Is his legacy more deserving of number retirement than MC's was? Or more than RC for the number 4?

RV has had a great career without a doubt. It doesn't seem like it stands out enough to warrant retirement when compared to some other greats.

Well how long until someone can use it? And what is the process of someone using it? And Jason Anderson is s great ride, but I don't believe he deserves it.

I would think the next most deserving person would be RD but the 5 is trademark like for him.

Marvin is possibly the only one who can get it right now unless one of the other riders change. That's if marvin wins the outdoor title. And he seems pretty stuck on 25.
I hope Cooper wins the outdoor title next year and he can take it. Kawi would love it if Adam could grab it.

Would J-Mart or Musquin take the 2 (2015 motocross)?
Would Roczen take the 2 (2016 supercross)?

I doubt J-Mart would take the 2 as he already has a single digit (also why I didn't put Tomac in 2016 supercross).

I don't exactly know which riders really like their current career number but I would think Musquin or Roczen would take the 2 if given the chance.

I guess in USA they don't retire numbers to honor the riders who raced with them and had exceptional carreers ? Seeing that Bagget got the 4 from RC now ...

I am really certain (not 100% though) that in the GP scene the #72 is retired out of respect for Stefen Everts his accomplishments. Maybye someday if his son turns Pro (currently racing EMX 65 class) he might be the person to use it, would be sweet Smile I guess they'll do the same thing with 222 after AC retires in Europe.

I don't think it should be retired but anyone who takes it has big boots to fill with both RV and MC running it.. lol

I would like to see Adam run it. But it seems far away at the moment.

This isn't a stick and ball sport, retiring numbers is silly, especially single digits which most riders only dream of obtaining. I don't think there will be anyone besides Webb and AC that would take it in the next few years. Most of the main contenders for championships over the next few years already have career numbers/single digits.

You can switch to a single digit number even if you have a career number already. A lot of riders have done that because they usually qualify for a career number before winning a title to get their single digit number.

-edit-
many riders have been given the opportunity to choose a single digit number and have stayed with their two digit career number instead. That is not the same as not being able to choose a single digit if you already have a career number.
