is the one who gets to the checkers first.

I think some people are confused about how racing works.

Yeah but... Stewart, Villopoto, Cairoli222 and Herlings weren't racing so its not a legit win. Bahahha!

Always been told there are two races in moto.... the start and and the rest of the race. Dungey'a average start has to be at least third.

Dungey and KTM definitely have things going in the right direction and their way right now but Honda and Canard along with Seely have really turned it up this year as well and their bikes are working really good.

Several are capable of fast laps or being the fastest guy on the track at any given moment but when it comes down to the nut cutting the only thing that matters is points and championship standings.

The fastest guy on the track over 20 laps on Saturday night Dungey, that's really all that matters.

The fastest guy on the track doesn't always take first.......and the guy who wins isn't always the fastest.

Talking about two different things here.

Fastest lap
Fastest 20 laps.

They are both correct ( or wrong ) depending on what type of a message you're trying to send.

Unless you have a time machine, the fastest guy on the track takes 1st. Anything else is guys trying to feel better about themselves or their favorite rider. Kinda like saying the guy 4th in points had a better season than the guy in 2nd. Some of you lack basic reasoning skills.

As Jeffro said, depends on what you are trying to say, Baggett had the fastest lap so he was the fastest rider, yet he did not win.

No it really doesnt depend. Baggett had the fastest lap but Dungey was the fastest rider. I know this cause he crossed the finish line, completing 20 laps ,before anyone else. Its a space, time thing. The only racing in the world where you can be the fastest and still lose is bracket racing.

Kind of wild Baggett had the fastest lap of the race
and probably one of the slowest as well.

The only place the fastest lap means anything is during qualifying.

I heard a radio call in segment once where people described dumb arguments they had been involved in . This one would be right up there.

Going by this logic BB4 was also the slowest rider.
(I don't know for sure if he the slowest lap of the night but being stuck under his bike didn't do his laptimes any favours)

That raises a good point!

IF a rider posts both the fastest lap in a race and also the slowest lap in the same race, is he the fastest rider or the slowest rider on track?

If this is true then Jeremy Martin was not fast enough to qualify for the main event.

I'm not arguing it, but if you use this theory, Jeremy Martin does not have what it takes to be fast enough to be a main event guy consistently.

2 years ago Villopoto was also not fast enough to make a main event and Roczen was not fast enough to make a main event couple years ago either.

If they raced 20, "1" lap races, I guess Baggett would've been 1 for 19 (unless he had another fastest lap).

Since they scored all 20 laps as 1 race, then Dungey was the fastest to the finish. Is my math correct?
